In a normal society we would not count a Chip bill a win, it would be a given. In the end we are tossing away one group needing aid for another group with needs.
Do you believe that the Dreamers will be protected in the end? Do you believe that the Turtle will live up to a promise? Do you believe that the GOP will not use the nuclear option to get their way? Do you really Trust the GOP?

Yep. As I posted above,Dems got 6 years of CHIP funding. No way that would ever pass as a stand-alone bill in a GOP Congress. The GOPs couldāve already done that and taken all the credit for it if it was something they really wanted to do. GOPs got nothing. They kicked DACA down the road for 17 days and gave up the CHIP bargaining chip.

The only people who go along with that rhetoric are the mouthbreathing methbillies who think it already and constitute that small 25% or so of voters who worship Trumpās every mouthfart. Itās too over the top and complete idiocy. Iām generally cynical myself about most of this crap, but I am confident that the TV ad Trump put out Saturday was met with nothing but derision from the rest of the country, who are sick of that kind of hyperbolic nonsense-talk defining our national conversation.

But wanting something hard enough doesnāt confer the ability to get it. It may just be that codifying DACA is a goal that is out of reach no matter what our strategy, just as single payer was in 2009. What does? Being the majority party. We have to actually win elections.

The CHIP issue was purposely punted down the road to create a false choice between DACA and CHIP. CHIP could have been settled 5 months ago. CHIP has wide bipartisan support. Who isnāt for healthcare for children? Where were the fucking Democrats running their ads against republicans saying that not supporting CHIP murders children??? The republicans didnāt think twice about running an ad implying that Democrats coddle murdering illegals. That was out of the can on day one, ready to go!

I KNOW the Dreamers, I managed apartments in California AND Colorado, and I rented homes to their parents a hundred times over the years. It is one very good reason I can say with authority that they are some of our very BEST citizensā¦ on every count.
They arenāt going to fall for the Republican lie, certainly not Trumpās perpetual deception.
They know politics, some of them are as astute as anyone I know.
Dreamers are a VERY savvy bunch, marby. They absolutely arenāt as inclined to assume betrayal as you seem to think, they are well conditioned to the subtleties you obviously have issues with.
Again, when I hear this kind of handwringing, I am reminded of the disingenuous trolls who tried to join my FB page in 2016. I am not accusing, but that is almost always how they came out of the troll gates, posing as if they were āconcerned for the poor victimsā, which is exactly where the word āconcern trollā came from.
Marby, if you WERE a Dreamer, Iād consider your opinion valid, but I think the Dreamers are smarter than some of us who are doing the handwringing who have never personally suffered their very real fears.
