Are there illegal Russian immigrants in Trump Tower?
Show us THEIR birth certificates.

He means 17 more days before they renege again.

Pretty good win for Dems. 6 year CHIP + regular order, debate and floor vote on Dream Act/DACA with the ability to shut it all down if/when the GOP reneges. With Paul Ryan as Speaker there will be no Dream Act, so getting a floor vote in the Senate puts the onus on the GOP and gives the Dems an issue to take to the voters which will be highly important in several districts. I think many of the rural districts in CA can flip on DACA alone.

In other words, in 17 days there will be another shuck and jive. A DACA bill will never pass the house unless Ryan disbands the Hastert Rule (majority of the majority). I understand that one body of government can’t tell the other what to do but if a DACA bill were to be brought to the floor of the house it would pass. This is a fact.

I don’t believe McConnell. He’s just punting this down the road. Trump will just fuck up any DACA negotiations.

I’m wary, but I trust Chuck Schumer to play this hand better than I ever could.

AND I get to go to work tomorrow!

Basically, what the Ds got out of this is a public negotiation that should reveal the Rs inherent BS on this and other topics, along with Trump’s just outright silliness.

I do not expect the House to bring it up, but most of the public wants Dreamers protected and a smaller majority wants them embraced which should hurt the R brand some more. It’s not a great deal but it’s just over two weeks, with the Super Bowl in between. (GO EAGLES!!) And when the Rs do reneg, the Ds can use that as a causus belli to stop the next CR.

Still, they played it badly since the Rs are so much better at the blame game.

This settles CHIP and puts the focus solely on the Dreamers. No more who’s more worthy crap. It forces a pure Dreamer vote and makes puts the onus directly on the GOP.

Meanwhile, GOP business types: If you could take a moment from hyping the tax reform to lobby the GOP on the importance of immigration to our economy - something they used to understand - that would be helpful.

Cheers, Rob’t

“The Republican majority now has 17 days to prevent the DREAMers from being deported.”

Paul Ryan (R-Invertebrate) is booking their travel even as we speak.

“To all the DREAMers who are watching today: Don’t give up,” Durbin said. “Three weeks from now, I hope to be joining you and celebrating.”

Durbin and Schumer have failed to account for the fact Stephen Miller has veto power over anything Republicans in Congress present to the President for signing.

INFURIATING. I am so fucking tired of this spineless bullshit. If I wrote what I’m thinking right now, I’d get reprimanded.

(Psst, Paul: this is what it looks like when a party leader is in effective control of his caucus)

How is that relevant to policy?

Here’s the deal too. Schumer cannot put the same wall funding offer back on the table in February. Trump coulda had that today and he said no to it.

Is this a clean CR with CHIP funding or does it have crap like that obamacare medical tax cut.

This is the same CR that failed last Friday, only for 3 weeks now instead of a month. Dems got nothing except a vague promise from McConnell. Trump hasn’t been heard from.

Upside: CHIP gets locked in (BOTH parties to blame for letting it lapse) & GOVT open.

Downside: DACA folks will deride the DEM’s as selling them out, tossing them under the bus, etc. (Trump thoroughly to blame on this one) & trusting repugs and the ratwing to acually follow through on what amounts to a vote?!? Not legislation to avoid deportation or restore protections, merely a vote.

ONLY other upside, is getting a chance to call the repugs on thier xenophobia prior to deportation deadlines and the November Election. Below is an interesting take…

They got 6 years of CHIP funding. You think GOPs would pass that as a stand-alone bill? I don’t.
