“Shutting down government over a policy difference is self-defeating,” Schumer said

Trump: Hold my inflatable Ivanka

I’m sure Trump will get Schumer on the phone after those remarks.

No way he learned a lesson. Trump doesn’t learn. But I think he’s effectively neutered on this issue now. If he tries it the shut down gambit again, he’ll just lose again and look worse.

He’s still mightily attached to the national emergency idea though. I guess no one’s been able to shake that out of his head. But he’ll lose there too. He’s toast.

Seriously, Chuck? Don’t you know better than that by now?

Thank the goddesses for Nancy Pelosi.

Reopen the government for three weeks and then closing again for months .

“Hopefully it means a lesson has been learned. Shutting down government over a policy difference is self-defeating,”

I love the way Chuck phrased that… If Trump agrees with him then Trump admits he is stupid… If he disagrees then he gets to meet the second kick of the mule

Schumer is still amazed that he got through this without caving.

Chuck may be gloating a touch, but that’s fine. I too enjoy crushing enemies, seeing them driven before me, and hearing the lamentation of the women.

hahahahahahahahaha

I would be surprised along with him except that Nancy glued him to her side throughout.

Why would you assume he’s genuine? It’s another put-down.

I’m always amazed when people insist every political message ought to be aimed squarely at them.

I’m always amazed when people I’ve never seen before impute things to me that they thought up and have nothing to do with me.

Schumer’s message isn’t aimed at Donald Trump. It’s aimed at Senate Republicans.

“Donald is a weak little coward, and he will neither protect you nor win for you. If you stand with him again on this, you’ll wake up with a knife in your back as he’s jetting off to Mar-a-Lago and you’re getting nothing”

Chuck Schumer is a big step back from Harry Reid’s ineffectual Sternly Worded Letters of day past. Hey Chuckles! Trump. Don’t. Learn. You’ll just look even more foolish when Trump shuts down the government again in three weeks, which is safely, and not coincidentally, after the Super Bowl…

Yea. It’s been a learning moment for Schumer as well.

I was thinking the same thing. Schumer could have made the same point about not using government workers as hostages, but saying out loud that hopefully Trump learned a lesson is rubbing salt in the wound and counter productive.

One can be at least a semi-gracious winner to far better effect. Trump is, no doubt, already pissed off, and deliberately pissing him off further, at this point in the situation, was not, in my opinion, smart politics.

Trump learn? HUH? Trump? Learn? Bwahahahahaha!

Chance that Trump has “learned a lesson” – 0%.

Like most things Trump does, the announcement of a three-week respite in hostage-taking is just another diversion. The Jared Problem continues to gain traction, so maybe next week will be wall-to-wall Maduro or something. You would think that after more than two years of this baloney, Trump’s turd in the punchbowl would disgust everybody. Yet we still have 30% of the US population asking him for refills.
