Dare we hope that Schumer might actually now become the man he meant to be?
I would bet that he wonāt.
Well put. I was going to say āgood job, although he still has a very long way to go to fill Harry Reidās shoes.ā But I like the way you said it better.
Dunno. If thousands of people continue to show up at his doorstep in Brooklyn with Chuckās a Chicken signs he may be forced to find his spine.
Weāll see, but right now Iād like to hope.
hey Chuck!!
donāt forget to tap your heels together when youāre hoping for a backboneā¦
If the Senate wouldnāt censure Dick āGo Fuck Yourselfā Cheney, they have no business censuring anyone.
I think he is a very careful tactcian and he is unlikely to give you great satisfaction in his day to day execution.
Iām not looking for āgreat satisfactionā from Schumer and I donāt believe anything Iāve said indicates that I am.
No argument!
Chuck, baby. You are as useless as tits on a boar.
During this pathetic event, you should have been standing on the Turtleās desk pissing in his in box. After that, you and the rest of your spineless members should have walked out, after trashing the Senate chamber.
Hopefully before long, you will realize that you can only defeat the Republicans by being more dangerous than they are.
Sadly, Elizabeth Warren has a much larger set of balls the most Democratic Senators.
After 2018, hopefully, you will devote the beginning of each session to poisoning their water hole.
Great visual there. I thought the entire dem senators present should have read the letter continually, while the republicans stamped their feet and turned red. Not impressed by the conduct of most dem senators after Warren was silenced. Shameful.
They donāt care Chuckā¦they got what they wanted. Liz is no longer able to āspeakā on Sessions nomination. Period.
āI certainly hope that this anti-free speech attitude is not traveling down Pennsylvania Avenue to our great chamber.ā
Too late, Chuckā¦
Someone on the News and Guts Facebook feed had a great observation about McConnell blocking Warrenās comments:
- If a sitting Senator canāt be challenged on their past by another
Senator when nominated for a Cabinet position, how can the Senate
possibly make a good decision? They canāt. If this stands, then no
sitting Senator should be eligible to be nominated for a Cabinet
position, or any other position that the Senate approves.
We need to be asking how it is possible ever to evaluate a sitting senator on the merits if their past words and actions cannot be āimpugnedā.
Under this application of this āruleā, It would seem that nomination of any senate member to a senate confirmed position could not be challenged in any way.
Pointing out reason to vote against a nominee would seem to violate this āruleā.
This rule as applied would seem to go against the duties of the chamber and preclude debate.
Repubs, as usual, also threw in some sexism to go with their partisanship for good measure by letteing a male read the letter and admonish a woman for the same āoffenseā
I hope they choke on their hubris.
So far, per this article, three already have. In a separate report, Bernie has also done.
I think the key phrase is āgood decisionā. The GOP Senate is only interested in filling the seats. That it is or is not a good decision is not part of the deal.
I wish more people realized this.
I see so many of the same people who used to whine about Harry Reidās actions, then lament that he was leaving the Senate, because it took a long time for the impact of those actions to be felt.
The Minority/Majority leader cannot think in terms of daily impacts. They cannot be the rabble rousers (other than in subtle ways). Thatās the job for the rest of the Caucus. They need to be more focused on guiding the entire caucus in the right direction, while leaving the actual actions to the individiual congresspeople.
What is wrong with these spineless Democrats. Every Democratic senator should have attempted to read the letter and made Mitch repeatedly invoke the rule and silence the entire lot of them. Whatever happens to hang together??
