Elizabeth Warren didnāt impugn Jeff Sessions. Sessionsā past behavior impugned him, and yet Repubs show no inclination to censure that through rejecting his nomination.

Heās right. This was McConnell shutting down Warren because he didnāt like the document she was reading. She didnāt comment on Sessions, she was reading an historical document, not offering her own comments. This to me is a 1st amendment legal matter where a government official with seniority violated the 1st amendment rights of a Senator who is meant to represent speak for the people of her state.
This is true. Itās a constant drumbeat that I think is intended to keep us discouraged.
That was one of the most blatant and patronizing exhibitions of racist, misogynist arrogance and abuse of power I have ever seen in my life. The Republicans will be sorry they did this.

Besides the misogyny of McConnellās selective silencing of Warren, there should be a general discussion of the applicability of Rule 19, which Iām sure was intended to prevent ad hominem attacks of one senator toward another during debates on pending Senate business. This rule should be suspended when a Senator is nominated for a different post that needs Senate approval. Otherwise, any Senator nominated for a cabinet post gets a free pass.
