Discussion: Schiff: 'We Will, Obviously, Subpoena' The Mueller Report If DOJ Doesn't Release It

Go ahead, Trump, do that high-larious thing again where you pretend to misspell his name. See what it gets you.

If Barrā€™s DoJ doesnā€™t want to follow their own guidelines by releasing the report (minus a few redactions), then the SDNY or other prosecutors should feel free to indict Trump whike heā€™s the sitting President.

ā€œSubpoenaā€ is the correct warning to issue.

Donā€™t be expecting to shame ANY of the current repugnican assemblage, admin. or congressional, about ā€˜tarnishing their legacy, blah blah blahā€™.

These slimeballs only care about POWER in the here and now, so fight them with ALL your POWER.

Of course, Lindsey will retaliate by ordering a Senate investigation of the Comet Pizza Parlor in order to expose the truth about the children in the basement who are helping Hillary sell uranium to the Russians while running a white slave ring for John Podesta.

So, basically we are going to be dependent on what Chief Justice John Roberts wants to happen.

Just amazing to realize that we can now just assume that the GOP will behave like banana republic officials and thumb their nose at the law and common decency. I understand this situation didnā€™t happen this morning, but to know ahead of time that the other major political party in the United States will ā€œof course cheat and lieā€ is kind of breathtaking.

I date it more or less back to Reagan.

Roberts has constraints too.

With Mueller closing up I was worried about losing my security blanket. I think Iā€™ve found my new binky.

I didnā€™t say which way he would rule. (I think we can all guess, with considerable reliabilty, how the most conservative 4 justices will vote, and Gorsuch and Kavanaugh probably wonā€™t recuse even though they should.) If it does go to the Supreme Court, and Roberts decides to rule in favor of the administration, it is over. We have no further options, unless a noble whistleblower with access steps forward. The House can and should continue with investigations, but I donā€™t see a viable outcome that makes the truth public in any meaningful way. or holds Trump responsible for his actual actions.

You mean when Barr was involved with pardoning all of the Iran-Contra criminals? Yes.

Nixon.

Barrā€™s role in Iran-Contra must not be forgotten.

There are, I think, hints of it during Nixon, but it was really under Reagan that the ideology got a firm footing on the whole party. Since then, the madness has just gotten worse and worse.

Well, none of us have forgotten but the vast majority of people in this country donā€™t even know that Iran Contra existed. Argh, I canā€™t go down this holeā€¦

WaPo had some good stuff about how the Clinton e-mail fiasco is coming back to bite DOJ on withholding materials about uncharged individualsā€¦ Apparently DOJ went overboard and released lots of stuff to Congress, even though she (obviously) never got chargedā€¦ And now that precedent makes it tough for them to argue why they wonā€™t release now.

Barr may not have been tracking on that newer precedent, as that represents a sea-change from when he was in charge the last time around.

Guy Fieri has already run a complete investigation on Drive-ins, Diners and Dives and all he found was pizza and ping pong. Very good pizza, though.
