Discussion: Schiff: Evidence Of Trump Camp Russia Collusion 'More Than Circumstantial'

What’s the next gambit? I would say that Nunes’ stunt pretty clearly led to the story leaked to CNN. Trump is back to claiming he was right about Obama giving him the “tapp”. Things won’t remain static.

So what is the process for getting a special prosecutor named?

No one is going to tell me that Reince and Ryan and McConnell and Nunes and the rest of these craven motherfuckers didn’t know about this. They have ALWAYS put their party above their country, and they always will. And Nunes looks like a fucking fool today. How stupid can you be to think that having a press conference after feeding info from the FBI to a person who is the subject of an FBI investigation was going to be good publicity for himself and for Trump and get Trump off the hook for his libelous statements against Obama? If Republicans weren’t gerrymandered into office, they would never vote against any public assistance programs, since they would never be able to get a job outside of Congress that would pay enough to live on, and the vast majority of them are just too damned fugly for male prostitution.
And a little OT, but like Nunes, most Republicans have a special talent for pulling things out of their assholes, but you can never take the asshole out of a Republican, and here’s one of the biggest distended anuses in the history of politics in America:

I think there’s a fair chance they’re going to double down. It’s a long time till november 2018, and if the justice department under sessions refuses to act there can’t be any prosecution. So they’re hoping they can keep a majority in congress and reap the goodies. Especially if, say, sessions can investigate a lot of brown and black people voting, or congress can figure out a way to pass voting restrictions under reconciliation.

Halt everything – halt all executive orders, all presidential nominations (including Gorsuch for SCOTUS), all bills being proposed by the WH, all legislation being prepared for the WH. Everything. Rescind all executive orders signed by Shit Gibbon, re-institute everything as it was on January 19th, 2017. Put it all on hold until the FBI completes its investigation(s) and an independent prosecutor has done its job in full. Guantanamo is still open, if I recall - use it!

Select committee or independent investigation. Clearly transition team member Nunes cannot separate himself from checks and balances Nunes. Interesting or not, Nunes was in line for Ways and Means Chair but Ryan said stay put in Intel Committee.

i agree with the notion that the installation of any further trump appointees/hires needs to be frozen until we can figure out whether trump himself is legitimately president. it’s looking more and more like he isn’t, and as such, should not be appointing/hiring people into the government.

and after all, isn’t trump himself a fan of the whole “we need to stop everything until we can figure out what the hell is going on” principle?

But I don’t see Nunes being removed right away. I think he will get support from Ryan. For how long?

Exactly!

until 2 seconds after they get their tax cuts signed. no one is getting in any trouble, no one is getting shown the door, no one is getting impeached, nothing is happening to anyone to disturb the status quo, until they get their tax cuts. that’s what everything is about, what it’s always been about, and what it will always be about. until every last penny is concentrated permanently into the hands of the very few.

man i hope i’m wrong about god/satan/heaven/hell, and that they actually exist.

Loosely translates to: we know that collusion happened specifically with regards to timing of release of hacked information. We just need time to make this go away.

Not hearing a lot from Reince Priebus and Mike Pence these days.
Career preservation.

Granted I hope this brings down Donald, everyone around him and the Republican party, but did it really change the election.

Now I’m starting to wonder if Comey only released the stuff about Hillary because he didn’t think this stuff about Donald would become fully public and get investigated unless he was president.

Hummm?

I think Congress has to act, and I think we are far, far away from that happening.

Is it possible that if Comey had airtight evidence he could go straight to a grand jury? By passing Congress altogether?

Nobody outdoes me in assuming bottomless cynicism and lust for power in today’s GOP. I’ve never been accused of lacking cynicism myself and any lingering assumption that they have some vestigial sense of duty to country is long gone. But there’s a point at which things spin out of control, even when you’re in control, and your awfulness and willingness to be more awful will not save you. First of all, the thing is just too volatile. The rats are going to desert the ship and try to cut deals. Second, the intelligence community, the blue states, the voters in general, the whole damn world is appalled by all this. Remember the march in Washington the 21st? That was just to say “We don’t like you.” If they stonewall this, regular citizens can paralyze that town. The system isn’t working the way it should, but I just don’t believe the status quo is sustainable. I doubt it ever was.
