Discussion: Schiff Blasts GOP For Following Trump's Lead With Two New ‘Partisan’ Probes

Benghazi is a battered dead horse. They’ve found a couple of less trampled dead horses to beat.

“Acting on the urging of the President who has repeatedly denied the intelligence agencies’ conclusions regarding Russian involvement in our election, they are designed to distract attention and pursue the President’s preferred goal – attacking Clinton and Obama,”

In the words of Sen. Flake (R-AZ), “We were not made great as a country by indulging in or even exalting our worst impulses, turning against ourselves, glorifying in the things that divide us and calling fake things true and true things fake.”

Adam Schiff simply is an outstanding public servant. He’s civil and careful not to overstate his points. He’s given Republicans no excuse not to work with him. At the same time, he’s been smart, precise and tough in pursuing the investigation, and eloquent in explaining the ins and outs of it.

Meanwhile, Nunes lies to his own colleagues, bullies the media, is confused about established facts, and can’t seem to get the president’s cock out of his mouth.

California truly is the breadbasket of diversity.

Actually I don’t mind them looking into Hillary’s private email server as long as Dems use it as an opportunity to Trump admin officials using Trump Tower email servers. Hillary won’t run again so maybe this will use up some of the GOP’s ammo that could otherwise be aimed at Dems who are, in office or running for office.

The Russian Uranium deal is, as I understand it, not even a deal with Russia. It’s with a Canadian company that is partially owned by Russians. I don’t think it’s a good idea for foreign companies to mine US uranium but it’s far from treason. It’s exactly the sort of investigation that could convice Trump’s base to accept any treason on Trump’s part with a “well at least he didn’t sell our Uranium to Russia!” rationalization. If Dems don’t win back the house then this is the sort of horseshit that could keep Trump in the WH for a second term…or even longer.

What does St. Jeff Flake have to say about this?

I have to think that all the political players are gone, both in and out of the DOJ, and thus immune to public opinion. Call it a witch hunt and either send your lawyer to inform them your taking the 5th, or show up and blast the republicans in your opening statement.

I don’t see how the Republicans think they can make this relevant. It smells of desperation.

What goes unmentioned is that no uranium ever leaves the U.S. – by law. Every bit is spoken for, under contract to the U.S. military, NASA, hospitals, utility companies and research labs.

That’s right, and inspections are stringent. It won’t leave the country and it’s unlikely the mining company would intentionally disrupt the supply. The immediate problem is that since republicans have suggested that Obama and HRC “gave” our uranium to Russia the msm will report the story from “both sides.”

News teaser: “Did Obama give US uranium to Russia? We investigate, tonight at 11!”

Dems would be wise to push back hard on this story which means they’ll shrug their shoulders and assume the truth will get out.

It not about winning in a court of law or in a congressional hearing…

The objective of asshats like Nunes et. Al. Is they think these are winners in “The Court of Public Opinion” regardless of actual facts and testimony.

And given the results of 2016… they aren’t completely wrong.

The Uranium One horse may not be battered but holy crap is it old. From the hill:

Rosatom began buying shares in the Toronto-based company in 2009 and in 2010 sought to obtain majority ownership, a deal which required the review board approval.

King raised his concerns with the Treasury Department at the time and said Tuesday that he was assured that the issue would be fully investigated.

“Obviously, we want to see what happened to that inquiry — what information caught their attention, what they knew then and why they acted or didn’t act,” King said.

Deflect, deflect, deflect. Obvious as hell.

Of course what the Republicans want from this is to establish in the minds of their followers that Obama/Clinton sold Uranium to the Russians. That’s all - nothing more detailed than that. Worse than Obamacare and Benghazi combined!
In the FOXNews universe the Muellar probe will pale (and disappear) compared to this ‘horror’.

If the committees are going to look into the FBI Investigation of Hillary Clinton’s Emails, then the probes should include the emails of all current Administration members, including the private server emails of Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump.
