I caught most of this on TV this morning. I was surprised by Scarboroughās comments because the history is so clear. But, I was really shocked by Sam Stein sitting there and not responding. Iāve never tried to communicate with Stein, but I sent him the following email: āI generally admire your reporting, but I was disappointed that you didnāt rebut Scarborough on the Obama speech. I thought Obama was right on the mark. You donāt have to go back 700 years or even 100 years to find gruesome examples of Christians using their religion to commit murder. Christians have killed Jews in pogroms in the 20th century, because Jews refuse to accept Christ. Scarborough may hum the tunes from Fidler on the Roof, but obviously never paid much attention to the story. In the United States, blacks were enslaved by Christian whites who bottomed their bigotry on their religion. And the murder of blacks - often gruesome hangings - continued in the South deep into the 20th century. So, Obama was right. Not only was he right, it wasnāt even a controversial statement. Certainly not among those who have any historical knowledge.ā
I havenāt heard anything back from Mr. Stein. Not holding my breath, but maybe he will discuss in his Huffington Post column.

Well I would say there is Christians killing in the name of their religion in Africa today. There was a law said that homosexuals would be put to death, but changed to life in prison, but we all know that Christians are still murdering gays in Uganda. I am sure that in some parts of Africa so called witches are being murdered too in the name of Christianity. So, no we donāt have to go back to the original crusades to see that there are still some groups of Christians who kill in the name of their religion.
