Discussion: Santorum: Trump Had To Hire Manafort Because 'Nobody Wanted To Work For Him'

Good one Rick, keep workshopping that. It wasn’t Trump, it was the shady characters he hired because he’s too innocent and trusting. Jesus, CNN, I know it’s hard to find non-buffoon surrogates but that’s just weak.

“Nobody wanted to work for him, so he had to go and get a lot of the — you know, Paul Manafort, who hadn’t been active in Republican politics in forever, and was not well respected, had all sorts of issues, The bottom line is, he had some people around him.”

And besides, Putin told him to hire Manafort. It wasn’t his fault. He didn’t have a choice.

This is a cheap shot at Trump, but it is also BS. Trump hired Manafort because he attracts and is attracted to crooks.

There is so much nonsense on so many levels in Santorum’s statement that one doesn’t even know where to start to pick the stupidity apart.

I’m sure Mueller’s team will reach the same logical and reasonable conclusion.

Let’s see what the shelf life is of this new defense, soon to be repeated by a chorus of Republicans …

Trump and Manafort have known each other since no later than the early 1980s, when Manafort was in partnership with Roger Stone, Charlie Black and (associate) Lee Atwater. Roy Coen was a mutual friend of all five. Trump and Manafort bought and developed adjacent properties on Long Island and were neighors for a number of years. So Trump was no naif when it came to Manafort. Besides, it APPEARS that Manafort’s involvement was something Putin wanted to happen, and Trump was interested in keeping Putin happy for a number of reasons, including capital for his golf course and resort acquisitions, the promise of Trump Tower Moscow, and assistance that Putin could arrange to have provided to the Trump Campaign. Moreover, the Trump Campaign was designed and operated to run on the very same model that Manafort had developed for Viktor Yanukovych in Ukraine.

What a shock to find out that Santorum the Pundit is very bit as corrupt as Santorum the Senator was incompetent.

And so we officially move from the “NO COLLUSION” phase of Trump’s defense to the “OK, LOTS OF COLLUSION BUT TRUMP WAS CLUELESS” phase. Up next: “OK, TRUMP KNEW ABOUT IT BUT IT WAS NO BIG DEAL.”

Final step: “EVERYBODY DOES IT!!!”

Santorum added there was a 99 percent chance that then-campaign manager Manafort was a “lone wolf” in his dealings with Russia and the rest of the Trump campaign was unaware of his actions.

Nice try, Rick. The problem is Trump has known Manafort, a GOP operative and associate of Roger Stone, for DECADES. Trump picked the guy he wanted for two reasons - he was a crook, and he had as many ties to Putin as the Trump Empire. Manafort was already one of “the family”.

IMHO, this disclosure confirms the conspiracy and is probably only the tip of the iceberg Mueller will “beach” in the next 6 months. The hard part for you, Rick, is that your party was completely complicit. Nobody with an effing brain should ever put a GOP candidate in a position of trust again. The whole party took part in this and betrayed the entire country. Traitors, everyone one. They should set the gallows up on Pennsylvania Ave. and make examples of everyone associated, like the assasins of Lincoln.

Rick needs to take another hike on the Appalachian Trail and get lost permanently.

If you’re looking for a not-buffoon and you end up with Rick Santorum, then somewhere along the line, something went terribly, terribly wrong.

Okay, we’ve got the balloon. Now bring on the trial.

I agree that Rick Santorum needs to get lost permanently, but it was Mark Sanford that was ‘hiking the Appalachian Trail’ when he was actually ‘getting some Argentinian Tail’ with his lover Maria Belen.

So this is the new excuse that’s being trotted out? HahHHahahahahahahahahahaha. GOP, you are so fucked.

Why is this guy still a thing? Does anything he say ever make him worth listening to? I don’t get it. Besides going on CNN, the man hasn’t done a fucking thing with his life since leaving office. He’s just one more shill among many.

There’s one more step after that – “OK, TRUMP’S A TREACHEROUS SCUMBAG. HOW ABOUT THEM TAX CUTS?”

When it’s the campaign manager taking action, that takes it out of the ‘lone wolf’ status and is an actual campaign activity. If the campaign manager doesn’t speak for the campaign, who does?

Yes, I know the ‘appropriate’ response is ‘Nobody’. Nobody spoke for the campaign and we have no idea how there were so many Russian contacts that we denied for years.
