If they would all stop acting like Hitlerā€¦

Wow.

This makes me think much less of Hillary.

Fucking ridiculous. I hope everyone enjoys having a GOP president in 2017, because Clinton and her supporters clearly canā€™t get their fucking shit together. These kind of smear attacks, riffing on the whole ā€œsocialismā€ angle, will only serve to alienate the liberal/progressive base, and we can all watch from our couches on election day as she goes down Coakley-style (I mean, I love me some Bernie but I seriously question his viability in the general). Bernie is 100% right here: this shit looks just like an AFP smear attack.

I am running seriously low on facepalm for Team Clinton at this point and itā€™s not even 2016 yet.

ā€œIt was the kind of onslaught I expected to see from the Koch Brothers or Sheldon Adelson, and itā€™s the second time a billionaire Super PAC has tried to stop the momentum of the political revolution weā€™re building together.ā€

Iā€™m not sure how well that defense will work when the attacks are actually coming from the Koch Brothers and Sheldon Adelson.

This is what happens when wanna-bes SuperPACs are unleashed.

Thatā€™s the point. GOP Superpacs will spend billions to turn Bernie Sanders into Hugo Chavez.

David Brock is an odd duck. One of his e-mails was prominent among those recently released under the FOIA. In a long rambling missive, he talks about ways of impeaching Justice Clarence Thomas.

This is a tempest in a teapot. But every time I see Bernie (Sunshine Boy) Sanders waving his arms and tilting at windmills I begin to fear for the collapse of what should be a great year for Democrats.

Not her shop, though Iā€™d have hoped sheā€™d have made it very clear broadly (no actual coordination allowed!) that attacks on Bernie are monumentally stupid. She wants to co-opt his supporters, make sure theyā€™re fine with voting and working for her in the general; this thing is so cartoonishly bad it seems designed to alienate them. Setting aside the fact that this is a wildly distorted attack (Bernieā€™s policies ainā€™t UK Old Labour, and he supports Israel, though sanely), itā€™s just unfathomably moronic.

Attacking Sanders is the last thing her campaign and supporters should be doing. And to attack him from his right using the same bullshit attacks a Trump or Christie would use is especially bone-headed.

I really do want her to win. However, I canā€™t say Iā€™m as jazzed about her as I have been in the past.

If these Super PACs think they are helping Clinton with this bullshit, they are sorely mistaken.

This stuff had better stop.

It is well that whatever WTF moments are taking place under the Hillary aegis take place in the Stupid Trump Season.

This goes to show, however, just how much a campaign is not so much a Marathon, but a SteepleChase.

Past the One-Year-From-Election point, however, this would be not only unwise but unnecessary.

I suspect weā€™ll see what you just wrote play out in the media over the next few days and the point will have been made.

You havenā€™t read his new book?

Knock wood, and from Hillary herself, publicly; anything like a continuation of this stuff and Iā€™ll start to think Brockā€™s returned to the dark side. Stick to actually correcting the record, please.

Itā€™s a judgement callā€¦

There was a Denzel line from the film ā€œThe Siegeā€

ā€œI donā€™t question your patriotism, General, I question your judgementā€

This is potentially more concerning (and requiring some alterations) than this email businessā€¦

Because itā€™s either a lapse in judgement for her to authorize the derp.

Or

A lapse in judgement (in coordination) in controlling others doing the derp.

Do you want the ā€˜on the fenceā€™ Democrats to shift to Sanders?

Because thatā€™s how you move the ā€˜on the fenceā€™ Democrats to Sanders.

(My apologies to Archerā€¦)

You know, I have to say I never really knew much of anything about Brock until the release of Hillaryā€™s memos. And I just discovered that he founded ā€œMedia Mattersā€.

I have to admit, Iā€™m not that into partisan political literature - especially the stuff that ends up in stacks at Costco. So, I havenā€™t read it. Iā€™m aware of it. Brock was on Chris Hayesā€™ show last week and it was mentioned. It was highlighted by CNN too. As far as liberals and Democrats being weak kneed and undisciplined, well Iā€™ve seen more comments to that effect on this and other liberal blogs than I can shake a stick at.

(CNN) David Brock has come to see some liberals as weak-kneed and undisciplined.

Heā€™s one of them now, leaving behind his days as a dirt-digging conservative writer behind more than a decade ago to become one of the most ardent defenders in Bill and Hillary Clintonā€™s arsenal. But he believes Democrats could take a lesson from the fierce spine and what he calls ā€œfearlessnessā€ of Republicans.

ā€œRepublicans tend to be more steadfast in their allegiance,ā€ Brock told CNN. ā€œAnd Democrats read one headline in the New York Times and the sky is suddenly falling.ā€

As Clinton battles stronger-than-expected headwinds in her second presidential bid, finally deciding last week to apologize for her decision to use a private email account as Secretary of State, Brock is offering no apologies. He is instead waging an unusual war against The New York Times and other perceived enemies in his new book, ā€œKilling the Messenger: The Right-Wing Plot to Derail Hillary Clinton and hijack Your Government.ā€

This shouldnā€™t be surprising at all. Remember 2008? They used the same tactics on Obama and this is exactly how I expected theyā€™d go after Sanders ā€“ label him a commie and an anti-Israel terrorist sympathizer. Of course its an unfair, distortion of his views, but if the mud sticks theyā€™ll use it. We should not forget Clinton is a reliable friend of the monied class ā€“ and Sanders is decidedly not. This is why I never thought heā€™d get this far and why I am worried we are going to be stuck with Clinton. Sighā€¦ this is gentle compared to what the right is going to do to him.
