Discussion: Sanders Campaign Suspends 2 More Staffers After Data Breach

That sounds like a Karl Rove talking point, and you aren’t TheGhostofEustaceTilley, so that scares me a bit. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz created the software patch, and then used her powers of mind control to compel FOUR of Bernie Sanders’ staffers to pilfer proprietary data 25 times, against their free will? The Bern-bots are looking more and more like Nader-ites each day, salivating over their plan to snatch a defeat next November from the jaws of victory and deliver another GOP President as they did in 2000!

This dustup was caused by the “shenanigans” of Sanders staffers. Hillary did not cause it in any way.

Yep. Some folks on the Dem side are using the GOP Playbook alright.

You see what you want to see. There are Clinton supporters foaming at the mouth over this, as if this was the worst crime ever. It is because of them I’m now voting for Bernie or nobody.

Not too good to be President, but definitely too good to get elected.

You shot your suffering dog rather than having it euthanized?

By forcing Bernie’s staffers to break the rules? How exactly did she do that? Hold their families hostage? Put guns to their heads? Tap into the Force and use a Jedi mind trick?

No. Bernie’s campaign did this. They screwed up badly, and they sent up a smoke screen about it and tried to play victim because they didn’t want to pay the consequences for their actions. And it worked. They had their privileges suspended for less than 24 hours, and they raised a ton of money off of it…and are STILL fund raising off of it.

Here’s the kicker.
Sanders’ campaign was in the same situation some months back and simply reported it-- did the right thing. This was part of Sen Sanders explanation last night.

The more recent breach-- while knowing better from having had a previous, similar event occur-- the Sanders team did the wrong thing. Of their own volition.

Cats act on instinct-- people, on reasoning.
A cat who was almost trapped once-- might be leery of the same trap next time.
You’d think intelligent people would be at least as leery as a cat.

Should I be more skeptical of the caliber of people Sen Sanders surrounds himself with?
I’d rather judge the senator on the merits of his proposed policies.

So you are saying that the DNC, with the complicity of NGP VAN, set a baited mousetrap for Bernie’s IT Director, and he was stupid enough to take the bait.

I don’t have any tolerance for the other ineptitudes of DWS, but Please Proceed.

I live in the country. Some jobs, no matter how unpleasant, one should not pass onto others. No suffering was involved in the act.

You remember Roger Stone? He was behind the “Brooks Brothers Riot” that stopped the Florida recount. He also set up Dan Rather with that Bush report. Dan Rather is at least thrice as cautious as DWS, yet Stone took him down like a helpless lamb. Roger Stone is the Republican frontrunner’s man. Hillary is the Democratic frontrunner. My biggest worry? That the someone in the vendor’s company behind this software glitch is:

A. Working with Stone and they suggested a software trap to DWS for the Bernie campaign.

B. DWS came up with it on her own and some vendor employee loyal to Stone or the Republican party drops the bomb when it’s too late to recover.

To be safe, DWS should be fired immediately. OK, maybe I’m paranoid, but when Stone is in the picture, I’m nervous about another shoe dropping in the future. I want Hillary to win, the last thing she needs is to be connected via DWS to any future scandal involving this.

I am going to sign off, Vikings are playing and I have to do my 3 mile run during halftime.

I’m really disappointed in the Sander’s campaign and how they are handling this. It’s not a good look on him and his complaining about DWS is misplaced in this instance.

It’s also possible that the people who were suspended but not fired (at least not yet) were underlings acting in good faith on the instructions from their boss, the now-former data director. They may have been told they were legitimately gathering evidence of the breach for innocent purposes (even if the data director is lying about his motivations and plans for the data, he may have lied to them as well).

Perhaps they still should have known better, but depending on their level of responsibility and experience, it’s not hard to imagine that it may not be appropriate to summarily fire them for it. As opposed to suspending them while the investigation is ongoing, and then making a final decision to fire them or not based on where the evidence leads (and if not fire them, perhaps to discipline them in some way short of firing and then let them continue to work for the campaign, but not on the database).

I hope you’re just talking about the primary. Because withholding your vote from Hillary in the general election to punish them for stupid things some of their more obnoxious supporters say doesn’t make any more sense to me than Hillary supporters who blame Bernie for the stupid things some of his more obnoxious supporters say.

The bottom line is, do you really want to be even a tiny bit responsible for helping Trump or Cruz or one of the other Krazy Klown Kar occupants become President of the United States…and Commander in Chief of our armed forces?

I have plenty of issues with Hillary – specific policies, overall philosophy, trustworthiness, who she surrounds herself with, who she’s funded by, and so on. But I refuse to cut off my nose to spite my face.

I hope that in the end most of my fellow Bernie supporters will see the logic in that, even if for some of us it means “hold your nose and vote for Hillary.” Better than to stay home and sit on your hands and feel all pure and clean, but then wake up the next day to hear the words “President-elect Trump” echoing thoughout the media.

Like to point out that while you and I are leaning-opposite candidate-wise-- that we have been very close-- even espousing-- one another’s opinions on this matter throughout the various stages of discovery since Friday.

I’d like to think that’s how we (D)s roll.

What ludicrous and immature bullshit.
And it stinks on ice.

  1. There were 20 co-chairs for Hillary’s 2008 campaign. None of them had an active role in the campaign’s direction or inner workings. They lent their names as a show of support.

  2. The Saturday debates—both parties have them—are on the 3 broadcast networks, which do the scheduling. DWS did not choose the Saturday dates—she was presented with them by the networks involved.

  3. If you seriously believe that DWS forced Bernie’s IT staff to access Hillary’s campaign data to create this scandal, then you need serious therapy immediately. This “scandal” is the fault of Bernie’s national data director and his subordinates—and no one else.

  4. DWS may be less effective than we’d like as DNC chair, but your accusations don’t hold water, and your attitude is petulant, childish, and guaranteed to help the Republicans.

  5. Get a grip, and stop dealing in stupid conspiracy theories unless you’re going to start working for Alex Jones.

Yes, suspends. It’s what you do to employees that you think, but are not sure, are involved in wrongdoing. That way, if they haven’t done anything wrong, you don’t fire them incorrectly.

Oh my god, stop! I am so sick and tired of this, “I haven’t seen supporters of my candidate doing something, but plenty of supporters of the other…” bullshit. It’s rampant from both sides. It’s obnoxious. It’s disgusting. It needs to stop.

Another inaccurate blanket statement that accomplishes nothing.

Why on earth would you blame HRC for her supporters? Why on earth would you vote for a candidate based on their supporters and not on their platform or, in the case of the general election, what’s best for the party and the country? That’s ridiculous!

And let’s not forget the Supreme Court. Do we really want any one of them choosing the next life-appointee?
