Discussion: Sanders Blames The Media For His 'Unqualified' Tiff With Clinton

Whoever is advising him needs to be fired.

His campaign manager, Jeff Weaver is a bit slimy, he’s the one who yesterday said Clinton was actively trying to dismantle the Democratic party…and he said that out loud.

But this is all on Bernie. It’s his rhetoric at his speeches not interviews or off-the-record remarks, Bernie is the one alluding to corruption and being unqualified at large public evetns like this so it shouldn’t be surprising when his supporters repeat a lot of these statements. I don’t want Bernie to shut up but he really needs to learn how to control what he says otherwise all the things he’s supposedly fighting for will end up with a GOP President, Senate majority and a conservative stacked supreme court.

He starting to sound like a “get of my lawn” old coot. When he was civil I kind of liked him but the desperation is showing.
This coupled with his “Revolution” that has a zero chance of getting past a Republican congress has turned me off.
I was there for the 60’s revolution and we all know how that turned out

Bernie, Bernie, the media’s invisible, inviolate, immaculate, Pilate’s just washed hands, Caesar’s wife or Greenspan’s or, in Charlie Rose’s case Bill Paley’s step-daughter’s ‘companion’…Jeez, sure they’re guilty as sin but if you want to play this game you must swallow your pride, accept imaginary personal responsibility and bad GOP analogies while licking media’s hand.

I came here to make that same point about not reading beyond headlines! If that isn’t Trumpian, I don’t know what is…

“I said that she was unqualified based on a media report that said she said it about me. The report misstated her actual statement…seeing that in print made me angry because it was an unexpected low blow and I unthinkingly lashed out. I should not have, and I apologize for doing so. Hopefully we can continue with the principled debate the two of us have been having so far.”

That’s what he should have said…he made a mistake on what she said, he should have owned it and apologized. His response was not good and will not go over well…NY has already defended Clinton against a man unwarrantedly attacking her in an election, he should know better than to use those kinds of tactics in the state.

He is deflecting from the original question which was………

“Bernie what is your plan to break up the banks?”

Bernie: “I haven’t really thought about it, I just like to say Big Banks and Wall Street every other word.”

Hillary wonders why Bernie hasn’t done his homework.

Bernie then smears Clinton as being unqualified.

Just Wow Bern. You lost my respect on that obne.

I actually have always believed him that he would not pull a Nader – but his campaign has taken on its own inertia. I just feel doubtful that he will have much control over his supporters votes now that the campaign has shifted from idealism as its motivating force – to anger.

“This is not the type of politics that I want to get in, I know it’s what the media loves,” Sanders said in reference to Clinton and Sanders trading barbs. “It is not the type of politics that I want to get in…”

Except you clearly do, Senator Sanders.

Agreed. Already raising money for his 2018 Senate re-election, as an Independent. He’s raised his profile and will profit from it with book contracts and paid speeches.

So how do you break up the Big Banks Bernie?

I am still somewhat optimistic that Bernie will still have the foresight to do what Hillary did in '08 and unify behind the candidate, energetically supporting and stumping for the candidate, making sure supporters back and vote for the candidate.

There was a LOT of anger from Hillary’s supporters in '08 - remember the dreaded PUMAs? - but she was tireless in her support for Barack once it was clear he would be the nominee. Then again, Hillary is and always has been a Democrat.

Only time will tell if Bernie is able to get the broomstick out of his butt and support the party he chose to run as…

Not sure it qualifies as “walking it back” - seems to me he blamed the media for him getting it wrong but then proceeded to repeat his attack lines from last night. “If she is going to question him, then he will do same”

WTF???

Is he paraphrasing TRUMP?

She started it?!?!?!?

Thank for that! It was what I was about to say and you just did it much better.

Hell, when JoeScar essentially says that he tried to goad Clinton into taking some bait and it didn’t happen, how can you defend the indefensible?

He only reads the headline. Then he blames the media for him not knowing what he was talking about.

I thank you.

Jeff Weaver is right now this minute on TV walking nothing back. He just said he believes what someone at CNN said over Hillary. He started again on the IRAQ war in essence he’s saying her apology isn;t good enough

In a just world, he’d lose his re-election bid but I’m sure he’ll be welcomed back by a bunch of Vermonters who think he’s a tough, straight shooter who takes it to The Man.
