Describing African-Americans as apes has a long sordid history in the US, and was used as a billy club to deny AAs their humanity. That language was not just derogatory and offensive, it was so much more, which is why AAs deeply resent it. By implying AAs were sub-human, it led, at least indirectly, to depriving AAs of their God-given rights. While I understand the c-word is offensive to many women, it just doesn’t carry the same burden.

Since when is calling someone a bad name - be it the C-word, or any other derogatory term - equivalent to saying something racist??? As a nation with a disgusting history of racism, and as a society working towards moving away from those awful times we have rightly decided that racism is completely unacceptable in any form and must be forcefully eliminated from our culture.
