“There’s no uprising against Bee,” Fleischer wrote. “Why? Because she is a liberal. Because the MSM protects Obama and his aides, but not Trump. The hypocrisy is sickening.”
How does Ari logically get from Samantha Bee, a Canadian comedian to Obama and his aides. If Sam Bee was an aide to Obama, that’s news to me.
I think you’ve hit on it. Conservatives actually don’t think racism is a problem, and if it is, it’s racism against white people. I suspect a great number don’t think Rosanne said anything wrong.
Aren’t they still fighting for the confederate flag and civil war monuments to racists?
This is the BS-ingest whataboutism yet, but the best part is–please, by all means, go after Sam Bee. She and her writers will eat you alive. Just look at poor Michelle Wolf, crying over there in the corner, not.
Ehhh, bite me, wingnuts. You don’t get a head for a head in these matters. If Sam Bee’s employers feel she did a wrong thing they can take it up with her, as always.
Each day of the Trumpist Epoch, gets more stupid. We are reaching peak stupid on a sigmoid growth curve and we haven’t reached the inflection point yet. We may still be in the lag phase, but I’m convinced we’re entering the exponential phase. At some point, we will reach the stationary phase of peak stupid, Sp, whereupon, the entire national population will spontaneously transmogriphy into a very large sack of hammers.
Separating kids from their parents is indescribably horrible. The problem with this Administration is you just run out of words to accurately portray their indecency, immorality and their Middle Age era barbarity. Maybe she should have called Donald the c-word as well?
Another example of the bully/domination dynamic. Right wing flings crude insults, blatant lies, and just general hate all day and night. But respond with even a tiny bit of what they do, and they push back real hard.
It’s not projection, and is not failure of self-examination. It is how the live. This is, I think, mostly empirical observation. A deeper psychosocial understanding is beyond my skill set.
I am not sure how the left, or even the civil right, should respond to this. (Granted, the civil right has not even tried.) Tit for tat gets push back and is ineffective. Trying to counter their insane nonsense with reason is pointless, it is at best ineffective, at worst gives credibility to their response. “Dont feed the trolls” lets them build their army of hate in peace.
With respect to the right pushing back on the vj-gorilla meme by citing the Trump-orangutan meme (which dates back to at least 2013, thanks Bill Maher) , I suppose one could get into a deep discussion of the history of the racist use of similar memes against black people. I don’t want to get into savaging Bill Maher to gain credibility in the fight against Roseanne’s meme; that’s a fools errand, as the quick resignations of Dem and slow or nonexistent resignations of GOP metoo perps shows.
No tit for tat, don’t respond, don’t ignore, about all that leaves to me is deconstructing the memes and insults. I am not optimistic that is any better than the responses I have dismissed.
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders on Thursday called Bee’s language “vile and vicious” and said executives at TBS and corporate parent Time Warner “must demonstrate that such explicit profanity about female members of this administration will not be condoned.”
Since this is the AP, shouldn’t there be a sentence to the effect of: “People who are critics of Ivanka Trump insist she is a Feckless C—.”?
