Discussion: Ryan: I've Received 'Assurances' That Trump Won't Fire Rosenstein, Mueller

“Trump was very gentle with me as I was fellating him,” Ryan continued.

And the reassurances from a man who changes his mind every 20 seconds are worth what, exactly?

Lying to our faces as he slithers out the door — he knows as well as anyone that assurances from this White House are worth less than zero.

I dunno Rep Ryan, I don’t think assurance from this President are official unless they’re written on the official trump brand stationary:

Suggest you talk to Trump U graduates, NJ gaming commission, any reputable US bank, ex-wives and porn stars about the value of assurances they got from the Liar-in-Chief.

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) on Wednesday said he had received “assurances” that President Donald Trump would not fire the deputy attorney general, Rod Rosenstein, or Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

Here you go, Paul, I think you have some assurances on your chin. You should be more careful.

I guess that’s why Ryan is quitting.

Ryan has “received assurances.” Well, that’s it then. No problem. Once someone on the Trump team gives assurances, you can take that to the Russian bank.

Note that Ryan very carefully avoids saying he has “assurances” from Trump. Presumably even he knows what Trump’s “assurances” are worth. If one listens to what he says, the “assurances” come from people in the White House, not the President. Weasel-wording is apparently a habit with Ryan.

Oh, F it anyway. I’m going to K Street where the big money is.

Reminds me of Victor Laszlo (Paul Henreid) to Capt. Renault (Claude Rains) in Casablanca “We know what German promises have been worth in the past.”

“I think they should be allowed to do their jobs. We have a rule of law in this country and that’s a principle we all uphold.” Ryan went on to point out that he believes in this principle so strongly that he will do literally nothing to defend it, not even passing legislation to protect Mueller, something he can now do with no political cost.

But I am glad to hear that the White House has assured him that Rosenstein’s and Mueller’s jobs are safe. That’s always a rock-solid guarantee. Like it was with Rex Tillerson and H.R. McMaster.

And what about AG Sessions? If Trump fires Sessions and replaces him with someone who does not recuse himself/herself from the Russian election interference/collusion/obstruction of justice probe, then that new AG will be overseeing said probe, will have the ability to steer it, deny permission to release final reports, etc. And I doubt Trump would replace Sessions with anyone other than a loyalist willing to throw themselves in front of a political bullet to protect Trump.

Not only a gutless coward, but a stupid gutless coward.

Personally, I find it quite telling that Sessions was apparently omitted from that very short list of people who allegedly won’t be directly fired by Trump.

Maybe he’s right. Cadet bone spur doesn’t have the balls to actually do the firing, and if no one in theWH will do it for him…
?
Just speculating.

A few follow-up questions: assurances from whom? When? Do you also have assurances that he won’t start a nuclear war as a distraction from what is going on?
