And in a follow-up to her statement, Trump said, âIâm king of the world!â
Shit.
Once again the Orange Buffoon bullies someone into âapologizingâ for pointing out what an asshole he is.
This is why Democrats lose. They have no spine to stand by their convictions.
RBG, you are now a big disappointment to me. You have gone from a free spirit with legitimate concers about electing a draft dodging coward and asshole loser to the Presidency to a toe the line wuss.
I am so sorry she felt the need to apologize. She was speaking truth to power, or at least wannabe power. Iâm also not sure why she would give up her right to speak about a politician when the likelihood of her hearing a case involving him is next to nil.
Except sheâs not a (D)-- or anything-- as a sitting SCOTUS jurist.
What she is? Is an individual showing class.
Iâll take that example over any other.

Hmm. And I thought she knew what she was doing. I guess I was wrong.
The sad thing is that apologies wonât placate her critics. If anything theyâll just amp up their criticisms, and now Ginsburg is backed into a corner.
Welllll, there really has been a tradition of judges not commenting on which candidates for office theyâd prefer to see win. Trump is uniquely dangerous, thereâs no argument, and she has every right to her opinion, but I think she was responding to the tradition and not to his big mouth. She has no reason to be afraid of him.
Really? A wuss? For a classy apology? (that, if you notice, basically said sheâll be more careful - not that what she said was wrong) Sheâs really damned if she does, damned if she doesnât.
If anything, this was a smart move by a seasoned Judge.
I wish Scalia were alive again, for about an hour, to defend RBG. I think he would. Then he could be dead again.
Note that she says her comments were ill-advised and that she will be more circumspect in the future. Thatâs another way of saying that everything she said before is still true.
Damn, Your Honour! Youâre being too polite and âjudicialâ. Did Johnny Blue-eyes give you a talking-to? Or maybe, hopefully, a colleague with more gravitas.
Totally disagree on this. Even if sheâs not a âDâ sheâs shown that the right wing scum are going to be able to speak their mind (see: Scalia, A) against any Dem POTUS with no pushback from left wing jurists.
This make me so angry Iâm ready to spit nails!
Momentum in an election is critical. Tipping points are reached. Trump has proven time and again nothing he says or does diminishes his appeal. The last few days have seen a large swing in polling, to the favor of Trump. Heâll get an additional bump due to the fanfare and coverage of the convention. I predict Hillary will find herself in a hole sheâs unable to dig out of. The first set of polls after the GOP convention will show Trump holding an average of a 5+ point lead nationwide. President Trump is coming.
NO!
Screw that!
I donât think she apologizedâŚshe regretted what she said, even though Scalia and Thomas have done worseâŚ
You know, I saw nothing wrong with what she said originally but I also see nothing wrong with the apology (which was mostly a non-apology if Iâm reading between the lines). She regrets making the comments but she didnât actually apologize for them.
ETA: And I just have a real problem with so-called progressives calling RGB (a woman who has stood up for the rights of others on COUNTLESS occasions) a wuss.
Sir, please - step away from the ledge. Or was that just snark that I was unable to detect?
Madam Secretary has come off of a tough week re: the email fiasco. Rump is running on a campaign of pure hate. It appeals to some not to the majority.
What I find wrong with the apology is that there was nothing to apologize for. She spoke the truth. Period. She didnât go all Warren on him. All she did was lay out some truth. And for that, she was attacked.
When Alito decides to tear into Madame President, it wonât be seen as controversial or political. It wonât be seen at all.
I certainly wouldnât call her a wuss but she made a big mistake in backing down on this. One of the things President Barack Obama could tell everyone from experience is this: NEVER back down to the RWNJâs. Theyâre nothing more than sharks. When they sense prey is wounded they go in for the kill and donât stop.

What Democratic losses are you speaking of? In her role as as a Justice she is neither a Democrat nor a republican, but letâs guess who she votes for when sheâs alone with her ballot. Donât ever say this particular Justice has no spine either. You have no idea what her career consists of, including work for the ACLU on womenâs rights, and it was an uphill battle every day and weâre still not completely there. She apologized. Others who should have, Scalia, Thomas et al never did. Most of all trump should apologize just for bringing on the political stage
