Minimum wage laws have never worked in terms of helping the middle class attain more prosperity.

I know its too much to ask for any Congresscritter hoping to control the world to have a basic understanding of economics, but… can’t he at least have a basic understanding of economics?

“If you give a millionaire another dollar, he’ll invest it to make more money and improve the future of our country. If you give a poor man another dollar, all he’s going to do with it is eat.”

I think his policy writers are making about $8 per hour.

This one really hurts my brain. So he is confident the American private sector will create millions of higher paying jobs because right now the jobs that they are creating don’t pay enough? So his confidence that something different will happen in the future is based off of the fact that it isn’t happening now? Da fuq?

“I want people to make a lot more than $9,” he said. “Nine dollars is not enough. The problem is that you can’t do that by mandating it in the minimum wage laws.”

Uh, yes you can. That’s kind of the point. People making a minimum wage make more because the minimum wage is…wait for it…more than it was.

Why, of course! We should not force private sector businesses to increase wages because they’ll do it on their own. At some point. In the future. It’ll happen. Just you wait. It will. They’re gonna do it. I have faith. Y’all can wait a bit longer for it, no need to rush these things.

Republicans believe that businesses shouldn’t have to pay even one cent more than what’s required by law, and they oppose what’s required by law.

They hate people. It’s really hard to come to any other conclusion.

Mandating is exactly how its done asshole. Same way you assholes have mandated the bullshit in No Child Left Behind and giving corporate welfare by way of huge corporate tax breaks. Government exists in part to even-out the playing field. Never forget this munchkin.

And when he eats the poor man will pay for his food. That means the supply chain all the way back to the farmer will have more money to spend. The dollar the rich man gets will go into an “investment” and sit there adding nothing to the economy. We are better off if the rich man spends the dollar on a gold plate than if he “saves” it.

Too much, tone it down a little. Maybe a slight dribble, an occasional burble, that’s the pace we’re lookin’ for here.

Oh good. And here I was worried about Senator Rubio being an intellectual lightweight.

I hope some of you realize that by raising the minimum wage we are going to force employers to pay all employees more not just the people at the bottom. Raising the minimum wage is a great way to boost the whole economy. It is a much better way than lowering taxes on the rich.
