Of course Trump rushed to the Twitter machine and said he never said we should give teachers guns, what are you crazy, how dare you. He said we should give guns to teachers—wait for it—who are “gun adept,” see, the ones who would do school-based gun battles real good. Because that’s not giving guns to teachers. If you were a stable genius you’d understand that.
I never said “give teachers guns” like was stated on Fake News @CNN & @NBC. What I said was to look at the possibility of giving “concealed guns to gun adept teachers with military or special training experience - only the best. 20% of teachers, a lot, would now be able to

....immediately fire back if a savage sicko came to a school with bad intentions. Highly trained teachers would also serve as a deterrent to the cowards that do this. Far more assets at much less cost than guards. A “gun free” school is a magnet for bad people. ATTACKS WOULD END!

And now I’m going to look away because a person has a limit.
I’ll be surprised if Spineless Marco holds this position 24 hours before backing away.
Just ban schools. No more school-shootings. Simple.
Don’t be so hard on poor Marco. He’s tried nothing and he’s all out of ideas.
OK, Marco, you’ve said what you’re not for. And I agree with your position on not arming school staff - that won’t fix anything, is opposed by most educators (Betsy DeVos is not an educator), and would actually make things worse. But, what are you for? What actions are you willing to take to try to stop gun violence in this country? I would do what has been shown to be effective in other countries - make the sale to and the continued possession of assault weapons by private citizens illegal. Take those weapons away. And also deal with universal background checks for all gun and ammo sales, ban high capacity magazines, provide better access to mental health treatment and do not let unstable/disturbed people have any gun. But, that’s me. I’m going to guess that you will take, shall we say, a much more limited approach.
Isn’t that what our esteemed Secretary of Education is aiming for?
Exactly. An army of home schooled or institutionally indoctrinated idiots with no critical thinking skills
easily manipulated by facebook , twitter and YouTube videos…
…
oh wait…
Idiocracy , are we there yet?
What a backbone! That man has all the skeletal fortitude of a jellyfish.
I have to say that this is not a new idea, and it has been deployed is several districts. I haven’t seen any statistics about its efficacy, but think Rubio is right. There were armed guards at the Orlando night club, the Las Vegas attack and there was an armed resource officer at last week’s high school shooting. They were very ineffective. They didn’t stop anything. Stop the shooter before he gets out of the Uber.
Trump seems to believe (I was going to say “think” but I’ve been corrected on that before) that there are a lot of retired military and law enforcement who are now teaching. I’m not so sure about that, although I do know some. He also seems to believe that a lot of teachers want to get weapons training and go to school armed and ready to kill. Not so sure about that either. But, adding all that training and weaponry isn’t going to protect. It’s going to distract. And it’s going to turn schools into war zones waiting to happen.
It’s a stupid idea. It’s an NRA idea. But, I repeat myself.
This sums it up pretty well, I thought.
The American Federation of Teachers told the Associated Press on Wednesday that arming educators was “one of the worst ideas I have heard in a series of really, really, really bad ideas,” union President Randi Weingarten said.
And Donnie Boy will forgo how many trips to his properties to pay for these teachers’ special training, weapons, and time off to practice? Will those teachers with the right stuff be paid more? And who will cover the raising cost of liability insurance?
She wants to get rid of public schools.
In her plan school-shootings would still occur at private schools.
My plan is more comprehensive.
Will armed teachers be eligible for combat pay?
I was flipping through the channels last night and came across it .
After watching him I thought
"This idiot is supplying us with all the ammunition to make sure this term is is last …
Those children and fathers will not accept nothing as an answer
When that father was confronting him it reminded me of one thing…
They’re barely eligible for teacher’s pay.
I’m not a teacher but I have much more experience with the profession and its culture than Trump does, despite his having gone to the finest schools. Few of them have much interest in staging gun battles in their schools. Call them crazy but they want to keep the guns out so there’s no shooting at all. Again, they’re not stable geniuses though.
Columbine too. There’s ample evidence that moar gunz is not a complete and perfect answer to the problem. It’s actually been tried and has repeatedly come up short.
Just like school supplies, pencils and paper , the teachers will need to buy their own guns and bullets
So, these pistol packing principals are supposed to, I asumme, have these guns on them at all times as they teach class. Or, would they keep them in their purse or a bag? If so, what happens when a kid steals it from the teacher? Also, what about specialized, ongoing training as required by cops and the military? Will they be given the time off for this training and who pays for it?
