Discussion: Roy Moore's Neo-Confederate Sugar Daddy Has Deep Ties To Secessionists

They don’t. And even if they did , secession is illegal under any and all circumstances.

You need to learn more about the law of unintended consequences before you start supporting the ideas espoused by Moore and his racist ilk.

Because that’s what you’re doing by supporting the idea of secession, even rhetorically.

This is one nation—and we fought for 4 years and over 600,000 Americans died to make sure it stayed one nation.

There have always been fascist theocrats who want to rule others—why do you believe we should give in to them? Because that is exactly what you’re advocating.

Russia is having some pretty spectacular success breaking up Europe. Russia is not going to break the US up and neither is anyone else.

I don’t know how you can say this. Moore was kicked off the AL supreme court TWICE for ethics violations and yet the people of Alabama re-elected him to that post. The people of Alabama ARE responsible for him.

Ill-thought out and far too flippant for such a serious subject.

Try again.

He barely won his last election with just under 51% of the vote.

Like all wannabe theocrats, he has an audience of stupid rubes who like the way he validates their bigotry—but half of Alabama is embarrassed by him and wants’ him gone.

Look at any election map and you’ll see the urban/rural divide just as vividly in the South as in the Midwest, or hell, even my home state of California. Rural California is Red.
Atlanta-blue, Houston-blue, Dallas-blue, Memphis & Nashville (not exactly the South but still) blue & blue.
The Mississippi Valley along the Arkansas/ Louisiana/ Mississippi border; heavily African-American and blue. The Rio Grande Valley along almost it’s entire length; Mexican-American and blue.
If Alabama and Mississippi need to secede then so eastern Oregon and interior southern California (the entire interior of San Diego County)… and on and on.

We’re also talking about Alabama Republicans so there’s no guessing how many additional votes this would help Moore turn out!

Yep - it’s rural-urban and it’s all over the country in every state.

The southern states are more rural in general.

Of course, no one needs to secede. It’s illegal and solves no problems.

Thats a shocker. Another republican from Alabama that has ties to white supremacist groups.

Right? I can’t believe everyone is getting so exercised over the same old same old.

They’d be doing all of America a huge favor if they just up and left. Go join the Biblical Nation of the Reverend Jim Jones and be sure to drink all the Kool Aid you can get your slimy paws on.

Roy Moore is no different than the Muslim extremists in the Middle East - both groups want to force their own versions of Sharia law onto the populous and they’ll resort to any tactic they choose (including violence and other criminal acts) to advance their in-bred warped agenda.

America is more screwed up than Iran…and Roy Moore and the Republican religious right extremist are the proof.

As usual, excellent points. I really want to be convinced that preserving the union is best and will actually work, but I see danger ahead.

It’s not just that we (that is, people who support democracy and people who support theocracy) politely disagree. The rapidly growing fundamentalist movement, veering ever farther to the extremist right and entrenched through gerrymandering, is not going to be overcome with sincere wishes or even working the polls. The fix is in. These people want to revoke civil rights, deny the power of the federal government, legalize white supremacy and proliferate lethal weapons in schools and churches. I mean, they’re crazy, getting crazier, and getting elected to high office in increasing numbers.

No one is saying it will be a breeze to separate a nation. It will be a wrenching agony if it ever happens. And of course there are thousands of historical precedents for countries that have been merged, then broken apart, and it always causes human suffering. The geographic boundaries are artificial, and never permanent. Why do we think we’re somehow immune from the tides of history? Did we really think our union would last forever, no matter how large and diverse we became?

As for foreign intervention and exploitation, I think we’re already there, and it’s due to the portion of our citizenry who are already traitors. How is our experiment in democracy going? I think other countries have taken the ball and run with it with much more successful democracies than our own. Here, we are not doing so well.

Well we can break up and form some utopian government and be fine untill we disagree.

If you have to be convinced, you’re already lost.

50+% of the State thinks that a recidivist constitutional violator should to be a judge on their Supreme Court! That says more about the State than it does the man. No one is saying that everyone in the south agrees with Moore, but a majority do agree with him and that is just appalling.

The Russians certainly know how to find our sore points and keep poking at them.

The problem is, a huge portion of our citizens, including the president and a major political party, are ALREADY on the Russians’ side.

Not just the Corporate controlled press…the rich corporate conservatives also control the BIG 5 news media organizations in the country making the US MSM the most right wing media in the world. The BIG 5 control s 90% of the news market in the US and this is why so many Americans have been brain washed into supporting the Republican Party of treason and traitors.

Many Republicans support Trump hoping he will collapse our nation allowing the bible belt to secede. McConnell and Ryan are so naive it’s scary…their party is going to destroy this country just as Putin planned via the Trump dossier and the Trump disaster.

A majority of Southerners does not agree with him. A bare majority of those who voted in his last election agree with him—about 30% of the Alabama population.

While that is appalling, it is nowhere near what you falsely claim to be so.
