Discussion: Roy Moore's Neo-Confederate Sugar Daddy Has Deep Ties To Secessionists

What about a swap. Let Alabama and Mississippi secede and form a contiguous entity. Offset them with DC and Puerto Rico as states. Two that wants out for two that wants in.

Liberals so willing to abandon all of those Southerners whose blood, sweat, and tears, literally, literally, have built and sustained the South for four hundred years.

Better idea: invite the vile secessionists to go form their own white Christianist radical society somewhere else. Leave the majority of Southerners out of this.

And no hurricane relief money for the hurricane headed their way.

Such an opportunity is also known as a “Pascal’s wager”.

Ties to secessionists? They should be more worried about being kicked out.

Unwilling to tax themselves, a budget for an independent nation would have to be formed by slashing spending on basic needs and squeezing people like you and me.

How callous and un-American of you.***

Totally agree. Sometimes it’s not about winning necessarily, but a time to take a firm stand. And if you can’t proudly stand against Moore, then what do you really stand for? This should be a no-brainer. Even if you lose here, you win nationally.

The “shining city on a hill” is looking a little tarnished and shabby about now. More like a dull Potempkin Village on a molehill.

“He’s argued that the more Christian South needs to secede and form a new Biblical nation.”

And here I thought the Handmaid’s Tale was fiction.

So about this “Foundation” thing that Moore has, that’s apparently a family slush fund? Any substantive investigations of it?

Since no independent nation is going to be created, what’s your point?

Again, you are blaming an entire region—and millions of moderate to liberal Americans—for the verbal bullshit of a few bigots and malcontents.

Thanks for that. In fact there would be an obligation for the U.S. to defend the rights and property of the American Citizens who live in the South.

White supremacy – the doctrine of those whose greatest achievements in life are being born melanin deficient and without a womb.

Moore’s wife runs the “foundation”, but there are other problems in the family.

To these “other”-hating theocrats, “Christian” = “White”.

They actually call “Christians” the “White Race” (as if a religion has anything to do with race.)

This is ALL based on racism, the whole “Biblical Government” thing is just a patina they brush over their rancid RACISM to give it a veneer of respectability.

They desire to OWN and DOMINATE “the other”. That is all there is to it. Everything else is just “window dressing” and “hand-waving”.

There are enough millions of people who are willing to vote the bigots and malcontents back into office even when the bigots have been removed for breaking the law. That’s not just a few, alas.

Trump has turned the “shining city on a hill” into a sewer that pours its narcissitic garbage out on to the rest of the world…

One small correction: It’s not “county commission in Anne Arundel County,” it’s the Anne Arundel County Council.

One of the quirks of Maryland government – especially in AA County – is that a lot of what in other places would happen at the municipal level (say, trash collection, and school funding) happens at the county level instead. There are actually only two incorporated municipalities in AA County: Annapolis and Highland Beach. The other towns in the county are, at most, special census districts.

So, being on the county council is actually a fairly meaningful position. There have been calls for Peroutka to resign, but so far he has refused, saying people should focus on “real racism” – abortion.

Steve Bannon favors a theocratic Christian starte and backed Moore.
