Discussion: Romney's Top 2012 Adviser: Trump Will Never Be President

Discussion for article #240535

For Donald Trump to win, everything we know about politics has to be wrong.

Dude, everything we thought we knew is wrong! Plus, aren’t you from the same group who insisted–just insisted–Romney was going to win?? With your track record, I’m thinking Trump has a better chance than even I had pegged him for … which is scary.

Yeah, not a very reassuring assurance as such things go.

Romney's Top 2012 Adviser: Trump Will Never Be President

“Adolf Hitler will never be Chancellor of Germany.”

Sometimes things don’t go quite the way you expect them to.

Stuart Stevens is a moron. He is living in a dream world. He is a politician of the past. He should be sending his comments to the press via telegraph, or dialing Sarah the Mayberry operator and asking her to connect him. What Mr. Stevens can't seem to fathom is the fact that Trump doesn't NEED to win the nomination OR the national election. He can destroy the Republican Party, and there is nothing that Stevens or Reince Preibus or the GOP elites or even a tearful $900 T-shirt wearing Ann Romney can do about it which, as a Democrat, makes me smile endlessly because this is EXACTLY what the GOP excesses over the years have led to: an insurgent Trump candidacy.
I hate the Republican Party, and I despise Donald Trump, but what the brain-dead GOP and the clueless MSM don't understand is Trump can say whatever the fuck he wants. His rabid Teabagger base just laps up the insults against the weak establishment candidates. He has lived in the public eye for decades, and nearly every business deal and scandal involving Trump has been in the news over the years. Why should he fear any of these GOP candidates? He can throw everything they've ever said or done in the past in their faces with impunity, and what are they going to do? Tell him he insults women, Hispanics, blacks, gays, and Carla Fiorina (I do not include Fiorina among the "women" category because it has not been established conclusively that Carla Fiorina is even a human being) - which are the groups the GOP base has hated forever? If they try to gang up on Trump, little WATB Reince Priebus better forget about Donald's pledge not to run 3rd party. The establishment candidates backed by the big money from Koch, Adelson, and the rest of the billionaires just don't get it. Trump doesn't need their support or their money; he can self-finance, and insulting him on the debate stage - which is, basically, what CNN is hoping the other candidates are going to do - will only insult their base, who will become even MORE rabidly pro-Trump. Donald Trump has too much of an ego to let any of these 5th-rate politicians get away with a slight, and I am sure he has JEB?! and Fiorina especially in his sights. He doesn't care about Fiorina pointing out his bankruptcies, because it has been in the news for years, and Bush is a veritable GOP establishment-coddled lightweight with a glass jaw. Carson is the "Rain Man" of the field, Kasich is a phony moderate, Walker, Jindal, Huckabee, Rubio, and the rest are just hated by the Republican electorate. So, let me ask the MSM: what in the fuck does Trump have to lose by going nuclear against the entire Republican field, when he doesn't need their money or political support, and when his pledge to not run 3rd party is absolutely unenforceable by the GOP elites?

Popcorn is not enough for this gladiator contest between people who are only worthy enough to be scraped from the bottom of one’s shoe.

So true. Roberta Vinci was 300-1 odds beating Serena Williams in the U.S. Open. 300-1. You just can’t overcome such odds, against such a traditional powerhouse of an opponent. Too many improbable, unpredictable things have to fall your way, too many lucky breaks. Oh, wait…

Just like the saying that government can’t do anything right, Mr. Stewart should fulfill his traditional Republican role. Join the Trump Campaign and prove it!

This is the guy who set up the chat between Eastwood and the empty chair. Maybe he knows something about an empty chair in Trump’s future. In the real world, we’re letting polls influence our thinking about him. Trump has won no primaries, has been in one debate, has laid out no detailed policies unless huge, beautiful, and greatness are plans. So, I’d have to agree with this guy

@krusher Would you rather Stevens be proved right this time?

This is the guy who furnished the chair just before he said “Uh oh.”

Soon Poe’s law will apply to the 2016 campaign and I won’t be able to differentiate between “theghostofeustacetilley” posts and actual statements of Donald Trump.

Was he clicking his heels three times as he repeated 'Trump will not be president" ? Because wishing it so isn’t going to work.

The only barrier left is The Donald’s less exuberant use of CAPS and CAPS LOCK.

MITTEN’S chief advisor says this?

Well, Big Door is in for sure now.

Oh yes he will. Pay no attention to Carson closing in on The Donald, because Trump is so good at negotiating your head will spin, and he’s gonna negotiate Carson to be his running mate so they have more than 50% and then make Carson pay for the campaign. They will then proceed to capture 100% of the minority vote and destroy the Dem party for the next 100 years. In fact, he should just be sworn in tomorrow it’s such a done deal.
