Discussion: Rolling Coal: Truckers' New Way To Troll Environmentalists

Conspicuous consumption has always pissed off people, and it has frequently been wrapped up with a host of other cultural antagonisms.

The thing is, when black and Chicano Californians in the 1940s were running headlong against a predominantly white/Anglo military culture and facing surface allegations of not supporting the war effort or wasting resources, there was always a lot more to it than that.

“The question goes deeper than just suits. It is a racial protest. I have been worried for a long time about the Mexican racial situation. It is a problem with roots going a long way back, and we do not always face these problems as we should.”

Eleanor Roosevelt – June 16, 1943

Shorter wingnuts: “Smoke this, hippy librulz!”

This will last exactly as long as their girlfriends permit it. I suspect that won’t be long. “Ewwww. Stop that.”

If only we could force them to do that, for easier identification.

And WHO complains most about Obama making fuel expensive? These guys who waste it.

It would make it a lot easier for Obama when he comes for their guns.

I used to drive a truck that did that. Who knew I was a forward-thinking, uber-fashionable iconoclast? I thought I was just broke.

My Grandpa was named Cletus. He was from the Ozarks and was a yellow dog Democrat who was a big fan of MLK. Please be nice to all the Cletuses out there.

Why is wanting clean air and water considered liberal? Doesn’t everyone want that? What’s wrong with these people?

Argue the politics of how to implement the policies to make these happen, but to assume that polluting the environment only hurts liberals is ridiculous.

What the hell is wrong with these people?

Used to be that people who hunted and fished were VERY concerned about the environment and active in its protection.

It is incredibly stupid and we could leave it at that if it affected only these idiots. Unfortunately, it negatively impacts all of us in terms of what it does to the environment, the accidents it can cause, etc.

Then they started listening to the NRA more than Friends of the River or the Sierra Club.

Just when I think people can’t get any dumber, I’m proven wrong once again.

Rather supporting the fossil fuel industry in effort to protect fossil fuel jobs and profits, now they’re actually pro-pollution?

I remember when conservatives could be for the environment, particularly those who like hunting and fishing clean fish, but I guess that’s no more.

What a bunch of morons.

Yep, the NRA has distorted these issues to the point of total insanity and rubes are going along with it.

These men, tiny as they may be, still control the agenda for the House and maybe Senate soon. They are able to block most meaningful action at a time when we have to act or face irreversible climate catastrophe. The nihilistic reactionaries may be losing out, but they can take all of us with them.
