Only now reading of all the philanthropic work Williams did, the USO tours, visiting kids’ hospitals, donations to humanitarian causes. Even the decent among us would have a long way to go to catch up to his generosity; Limbaugh never will.
People just don’t understand the severity of depression. Yes, Robin Williams could suffer from BOTH Parkinson’s AND depression, the one leading to the other.
So now everyone can breathe a big sigh of relief… “Well, yeah, I mean, the guy had Parkinson’s. Who wouldn’t want to kill themselves?” Of course, now it makes sense."
I was on the lot at Paramount when Mork was being produced; I have seen Robin Williams up close; gifted? Certainly… standing on the very ledge of mental illness throughout his entire career, and likely his life? Very likely. Show business both enabled him and allowed him room to survive… but I think he always knew that it was an end sum game.
