I’m sorry he died. I’m glad he was sober. Attaboy.
That does explain a lot.
I have never understood what it takes to drive someone to suicide. That just might do it for me.
One of the greatest comedic minds ever. I miss him already.
PusLimbaugh will report that RobinWilliams was just faking his struggle with depression and early Parkinsonism…
Like MichaelJFox was faking.
Peace to Robin and his family.
May he find peace.
OT: Has anyone else been having problems with the notifications pull-down menu here in the comments from working?
No…
If you have never read this piece: How Doctors Die, please do. It is well worth your time.
Well, that explains why Limbaugh was picking on Williams even in death. Rush is turning his hatred of Michael J. Fox onto a dead Robin Williams who is not able to fight back now.
I hope Fox takes this knowledge and doubles down on this Far Right tub of lard to fund raise for Parkinson’s research with it.
Parkinson’s is a truly terrible disease. If he was already severely depressed, I can see how he would feel completely overwhelmed and hopeless.
Here is a sensitive and beautiful eulogy by Russell Brand.
Sometimes it doesn’t show a notification when I have one, or shows a new notification for one that was already viewed. Seems to be more or less random.
I really never appreciated his rapid fire intellect until I seen this 1993 Gene Shalit NBC interview where he describes his entire life in two minutes. http://www.nbcnews.com/watch/nbcnews-com/flashback-robin-williams-on-robin-williams-317409859996
Cripes, I had a hard time keeping up just listening.
Yes. The pulldown (or pullover) lists about 7 or 8 comments and has a button at the bottom that says ‘Loading More Comments’, but I never get any more. I have to go to the actual comments page to see the rest. One note - I read TPM on my iPad, but it should work, in my book…
The past week, about 50% of the time I click on the drop down because of have notifications, and the list is blank and I get the spinning beach ball of the site stalling out. 99% it is due to Flash having one of its myriad pieces of shitty code going to the zoo.
My father suffered from Parkinson’s and depression is one of the side effects. My father took medication to combat it. Since Robin Williams already suffered from clinical depression, I am sure his Parkinson’s made it even worse.
That’s only half of it. He contacted herpes early in his career. Robin was sued by waitress ,Michelle Tish Carter for giving the disease to her in the late 80’s. He settled out of court. Then, he had to keep working doing stuff he did not enjoy to keep up with alimony payments to two ex wives:
In addition, he then suffers from severe depression and Parkinson’s disease. Poor guy.
Some have said suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Parkinson’s ain’t temporary. And depression never really goes away. For sure the feeling and the pain stay in the memory. I know that better than some. But I am very glad to hear Robin’s sobriety was intact.
If you are expecting for Fox to do something generous or noble out of all this then I think you better settle in for a very long wait.
