“Don’t go there,” he hissed to a Kansas City Star reporter on his way into a Senate vote. ‘We can’t confirm him.”

That clinches it, Trump will nominate him.

Yes indeed. And then we’ll see whether or not Roberts knows what he’s whispering about or not.

Kobach also wants to run for Roberts’ senate seat. He lost his bid for governor. I guess it will depend on who the dem candidate is.

“Don’t go there” is an odd directive to give to a reporter in this context. It isn’t the reporter making the nomination - and the senator isn’t saying “don’t go there b/c I have no comment” as if the “there” was asking the question.

Sorta like that directive was meant to leak out and go directly to the audience of one.

In the recent Judiciary nominations the admin has dropped the tradition of notifying/discussing nominees with the senators of the state from which the nominee resides (to give a chance for a “don’t go there” type response) before making the nomination. I think it is clear that this wouldn’t happen for a cabinet nomination. As such I read this as a rather desperate and transparent way to get the message to Trump. The laughable thing is Roberts thinking that Trump would care or take heed.

Editing to add: the word of such public disrespect being dished to Kobach - makes me almost dance as I type.

Some people crave rejection, I suppose. Kobach’s (mis)adventures during the previous administration were quite enough for most everyone in the state, Republicans or Democrats. Why he wants to run the very real risk of losing another state-wide election is a mystery to me.

I hope he does. It would be lovely to relitigate his court case, where his incompetence was on full display.

“Why involve all those guys, great guys by the way just the best guys, on the Hill? I’ll make him an Actor [psst Acting sir, Acting] an Actor-ing DHS Secretary. He’ll be great.”

hahahahahahahahahaahahahahahah

Well I guess Roberts was paying attention when Kobach got slapped again and again in court for being a complete moron.

Ummm, so? When was the last time Trump actually “nominated” anyone? He just appoints an Acting position and ignores Congress.

The guy should be in jail. In a country still ruled by laws, he would be.

Kobach has no reputation left to lose -and that’s precisely what would make him dangerous in any capacity in Homeland Security. He has neither brains nor ethics -the perfect Trump staffer.
