From the GOP point of view, the main sin of Kris Kobach is that he is hopeless incompetent and inept and tries to make up his lack of smarts with assholery. They have no problem with White Nationalists and Fascists as long as they are effective.

I used to think strategically like this, and then Donnie Dummkopf won and I’ve become far more tactical (and traumatized). I don’t mind incompetent (I think it’s saved us from a far worse fate with Donnie) but the danger of Kobach accidentally accomplishing something is too real for me to relax at the moment…

Senate confirmation just doesn’t matter any more. Trump will just name him as “Acting” Head of DHS. Bypassing all oversight: that’s what tyrants do. Screw the Constitution, apparently.
