The GOP has been comfortable with their support for years, decades. How far is this quote from the “Makers vs Takers” dogwhistle rhetoric of the GOP and its propagandists during the last presidential election?
Hey, they don’t have to hide it. As long as they merely pretend like they’re hiding it, the MSM is obliged to not notice it except as a politically motivated, implicitly out of bounds, thing Democrats accuse them of; those are the rules the MSM has imposed upon itself for reasons that are unclear but appear to have something to do with non-news people’s concerns about ad revenue and fears of being called biased.
Which is, of course, pretty much how we ended up with this dime store fuhrer at the top of the Party of Lincoln’s ticket.

Lincoln’s party was the party of the so called progressives in the 1850’ and 60’s. Democrats were the hide bound conservatives at that time.
Which constantly amazes me. If you followed the path of the newspaper, we saw time and time again that left leaning newspapers would turn towards the right in a desperate attempt to increase readership and thus ad revenues.
Instead, the more predictable thing happened…the right wingers refuse to touch any printed media and the people on the left that read the newspapers stopped out of disgust for the biased coverage. The move merely accelerated the spin down the drain.
TV news has bigger audiences,deeper pockets and bigger ad revenue streams. But it’s heading in the same direction. Just look at the age demographics with regard to where people get their news. And in response to those troubling trends…TV news had more or less adopted the same model: turn to the right so those people can continue to refuse to watch us and in the process turn off the people on the left that actually do watch us.
