Discussion: RNC Chair Explains NBC Suspension: 'We Were Betrayed' (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #242376

What a whiner. I feel he should be clutching his chest while talking about NBC and how hurtful it all was.

If you wanted to put on a 2-hour advertisement for the candidates to present themselves in the best light, perhaps you should just buy that and be done with it.
Of course, no one would watch. But a pie fight? THAT we’ll watch. So you might as well tell the candidates to get their pies ready.

The GOP candidates and leadership are like a 2-year-old who has missed his nap. All whining and pants pissing.

But without the innocence or charm.

“Several campaigns had a concern about time allotments, we approached CNBC on multiple occasions to give us a read out of times as they promised and they refused,” RNC spokesman Sean Spicer said in a statement to Politico.

But you still went forward with the debate anyway? Take some responsibility, won’t you.

In the battle for sugar daddies Rube has won one who was supposed to go to Jeb! Bad news for him also Christie was courting him.

Some “gotcha” questions:

  1. What is your favorite color?
  2. Who was your favorite high school teacher?
  3. What is your mothers maiden name?

(It’s not like they were being interrogated for 11 hours at the so-called Benghazi hearings, or had their email subpoenaed.)

That piece from politico was actually a pretty good read. Preibus is rapidly losing control of the “process” as he likes to call it.

I hate to be an “I told you so”, but I am pretty sure I pointed out months ago that there was going to come a time when Preibus looked fondly back on the clown car campaign of 2012. That time is happening right now.

Yes, they wre betrayed by people who asked real questions that needed real answers and Republicans don’t have real answers for their crazy fairy tales.

Rube (with a million skeletons in his closet), Carson, Trump, Bush, in that order.

Maybe in the post-policy Republican world the debate format is an unworkable relic of the days when political people actually had policies with benefits and drawbacks they could argue about in real-world terms. Today they just want to emanate a fact-free vibe, something that generates a mood, like opera sung in a language you don’t know, and almost any actual question is a thing they can’t really deal with.

“We were betrayed, and I think the candidates were betrayed by CNBC,” Priebus told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren. “And we need to look out for the candidates in these future debates.”

You mean those same candidates who appreciate you so much they’re going to meet without you? More specifically, to gripe about the RNC’s handling of the debate format? Sounds like Reince is passing the buck.

Oh, I get it, the RNC thinks it is purchasing a two hour infomercial. Why don’t they just give the “moderators” a set of pre-approved questions to ask?

Mr. Singer, who gave more money to Republican candidates and causes last year than any donor in the country, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, is courted by Republicans both for the depth of his own pockets and for his wide network of other conservative givers. He is known for his caution and careful vetting of candidates and, while passionately pro-Israel and a supporter of same-sex marriage, he is generally viewed as a donor who does not believe in litmus tests. (From NYT)

Interesting. Singer’s fairly middle-of-the-road/left positions on such issues as marriage equality – wonder if that would be much of a turn-off to potential Rubio supporters who are hard-line Tea drinkers and Christianists? Probably not much.

For their next debate, it will be inside a bubble, moderated by Rush, and only available for viewing to those who watch Fox News more than 4 hours a day.

The world has not been kind to American Presidents of late. I don’t see why the vetting process for the next one should be any less kind. If the GOP has a stand up guy he or she can take “gotchas” and embarrassing questions with alacrity. I cannot see how this crybaby “take my ball and go home” thing is going to work for the GOP.

Yeah…that’s actually very big news, and really horrible news for Bush. Because not only is he publicly announcing support for Rubio, he is sending a letter to all his rich donor friends, urging them to do the same.

JEB is not going to make it till Iowa, a state that he is already in the process of blowing off anyway. If he stays in a bit longer, look for another round of austerity cuts within the next two-three weeks, as the blow off literally everything else and try to make a stand in NH, where RCP has him tied for 3rd place with Rubio. Next week he drops into 4th, or even 5th place, assuming someone actually does some polling there.
