Discussion: RNC Chair: Candidates Should 'Proceed With Caution' When Talking About Latinos

…Rinse obviously trying to stay on the Donnie’s good side…especially after T-Rump’s ‘unlucky’ threat.

I know…To quote the world-renown GOP wordsmith…
“It’s very hopey-changey, isn’t it?”

These republican men would also do well to stop talking about women. This will also ensure

something stupid and insulting won’t come out of your mouths.

Watched Game Change last night and it made me remember all over again just how venal and self absorbed and stupid this woman was and is. “Didja take that poll in Alaska?” “But it’s only got three electoral votes and will cost $60,000” Silence and dirty looks ensue.

“Well, look, I have said many times, the way you communicate and tone is very important. And, sometimes, it’s not what you say, but it’s how you say it. I think all of our moms have – have told us that,” Priebus told Tapper.

So there’s the problem with Republicans: their mom’s told 'em they could be racist assholes, they just had to do it with a smile on their faces, in a calm tone of voice.

Mystery solved!

“WHAT PART OF ‘QUIET ROOMS’ DO YOU MOTHERFUCKERS NOT UNDERSTAND”, the chinless wonder (not Rove, the other one) shrieked into his pillow. Nightly.

republicans to hispanics: do not enter. go away. do not vote. we hate you. other than that, have a real nice day.

Priebus in a nutshell: Ix-nay on the ic-spay.

It’s shaped up as a battle between the party professionals whose experience has taught them the benefits of the plausible deniability of dog whistles, and the outsider whose lack of skills and sense of entitlement cooperate to make him a shameless bigot.

The fear that white supremacy is on the decline combined with the wholesale cultural ignorance of many has led to a situation where the bigotspeak candidate is now winning by a wide margin. Dog whistles are now considered politically correct speech. People have become proud of their ignorance. Seems to me that this widespread disrespect for facts, for civic knowledge, and for intellectual pursuits in general is unprecedented in our history.

Look for more Republican candidates to abandon their more measured approach in favor of this more direct and inflammatory appeal to the proudly ignorant rank-and-file, hence Priebus’ preemptive (and I think ineffective) appeal. Oh, sure, Rubio and Bush are on board, but if these trends hold they’re not going to win the nomination in large part precisely because they are on board. Hispanics don’t vote in Republican primaries in large numbers, I suspect.

Seems to me that this is how fascist movements get started. Not to be an alarmist, but we misunderestimate the implications of what we’re witnessing at our own peril. At the risk of exposing my total incompetence at compound nouns, this is the Drumpfreich. They don’t have to be a majority to do a lot of damage.

“So, look, I think, at the end of the day, each candidate is going to be accountable for their own words and their own mouth,” he continued. "And so they should proceed with caution …

so they don’t accidentally blurt out what GOPers are only supposed to whisper to each other."

All of the Republican messages delivered today focused on how they should say something - when the problem is actually what they are saying. They aren’t even smart enough to pretend to care about many constituencies. (This is no different than Romney’s “I’m running for office for pete’s sake.”)

No argument. It’s not inevitable, but people are playing with fire. You’re seeing a debilitating breakdown of cultural norms within government and in the broader society. Trump and everyone who paved the way for him have hurt the Republicans but the way it’s playing out hurts everyone. We’ve had two wars and a major recession already when things weren’t this bad.

“…And so they should proceed with caution”

I always thought Reince was much more suited to a career as a flagman, but for the sobriety requirement.

He does sound like he’s half-sloshed much of the time, doesn’t he?

So the GOP is transitioning from hating Latinos to fearing them.

RNC Chair: We shouldn’t make our racist appeals explicit.

Waaaaaaay too late and there are way too many examples to list here. Would that all the voters would remember their words on election day.

That, for most republicans anymore requires a higher order of intellectual processing which would imply a liberal infection. Thinking, you see, has a liberal aspect sorta like science does. So, the base must be spoon fed talking points from Fox News. Treating anyone not of the white Christian country club set with respect reeks of liberal thinking

In the last Presidential election the Democrats won large majorities of AA’s, Hispanics and Asians and that was before Republican racism became mainstream. With the insufferable bigots, the religious radicals and the mean spirited leftovers making their voices heard there isn’t much Reince can say or do to change the outcome of his parties status. Ineffectual little man following his buddy, Walker, down the crapper.
