You actually think that is Obama’s fault? Sorry, I’m not buying that at all. He got fought on Wall Street regulation by his own party. And the Republicans fought any tax increases for the wealthy. Obama cant’ pass laws, he can only sign them or veto them. Hell, he can’t even get judicial nominees approved, and many of them would help the poor.
Nailed it 1000%. The rioters may not understand the deficits of their actions. But some may invariably be bad actors who just don’t care about their fellow man and never will.
I wasn’t particularly judging anyone, rather I was feeling grateful when I posted that comment. grateful because I’m no longer homeless. I was homeless for a time a long time ago. I have some understanding but just a little of what it’s like to have no prospects.
I also said this:
“And money is not as significant as people think. Many a kid from a wealthy family does stuff like this. And many a kid from poor families are exemplary kids.”
So therefore I am racist against white parents, right? You are just funny, I have to say I find you entertaining.
I was critical of the adults who did not supervise these kids (parents or whoever was there), and I will be critical of spoiled rich kids who have no adult guidance. I don’t give a damn about their race either way, I criticize anyone I think deserves it.
You seem to understand what’s going on here better than most posting tonight. This is what you get with that transfer of wealth. It’s sinful. I’m surprised there haven’t been more riots and surprised there haven’t been shots taken at some of our Corporate Masters.
I’ve been to Johns Hopkins often, in Baltimore. Baltimore is still a dump and crime ridden. The residents are not just protesting the killing of one innocent man. They’ve been living in the squalor of poverty and the threat of crime everyday for years. And now they’re doing what they’re doing because they have very little else to lose.
I understand. I’m sorry to hear that about the homelessness, not the success story later.
Congrats on such an admirable turn around.
So the comment “Does not say much for the adults that are supposed to be supervising those kids.” was only meant in reference to “the parents of a few of the rioters.”
Your back-pedaling is a riot.
Careful you don’t fall on your ass. I mean, any more than you already have.
Obama’s first budget so awfully underfunded the economic need of the middle class and poor that it was a joke, however it continued the bush era tax cuts - these are Obama decisions. question, did Obama ever do anything for the inner city communities or was he the biggest uncle tom the first four years of his presidency - mind you he is trying to change his image now.
Obama has governed over the biggest transfer of wealth from the middle class and poor to the rich than anytime in history -
Obama’s no more to blame for that than he is to blame for climate change. Obama’s not at fault for policies implemented during Reagan’s presidency that continue till this day. Obama revived the economy and those policies from Reagan and Nixon era insures any revival of a collapsed economy will transfer wealth to the top 0.1% first. You want to blame somebody blame republican SCOTUS that insures these policies can’t be changed when they gave us Citizen’s United. Instead of blaming Obama who can’t wave a magic wand since he has to follow laws too as POTUS, work on getting more Democrats in SCOTUS that will overturn the dark money from the wealthy and powerful.
So now I am causing riots? By saying riots hurt the communities where they occur?
Wow …OK then… are rioters innocent and am I guilty? I’ve been homeless. And I went through hard times. But I worked my way out of that to the point of a decent retirement, Now you say I’m guilty of tossing gas on the fire for saying it’s wrong to burn down the neighborhood. I find that hard to accept.
Obama’s magic wand just wasn’t strong enough to overturn 30 years of Republican policies favoring the wealthy. Bad Obama. Short of forcing Republicans at gun point to do something they would never do which is pass laws favoring the middle class, what did you expect Obama to do? lol
You haven’t a clue and your defense of Obama is laughable.
Well, if the almighty Darcy says so then it must be. No need for infallible omnipotent Darcy to take time to provide an actual logical rebuttal. You’re too good for that apparently. That’s what’s actually laughable and clueless. Good times though. Take your word for it because you have all the clues according to you, right? smh.
Well, almighty Darcy what should Obama have done that he had the power to do that he didn’t do, in spite of Republican intransigence? Do tell?
remember, Obama had a democratic congress to enforce his rule. however Obama did not want to rule, he wanted to try and get white people to like him at the cost of being a leader and allowing blacks to be treated as second hand citizens. during Obama’s first term, do you know white people got away with pointing guns at federal agents, firing a departmental leader over false accusations and pharmaceutical pricing quadrupling because of no regulation.
Obama and clinton have been a complete failure when it comes to addressing the concerns of the middle class and poor.
I don’t know how many times I’ve seen him back away from something while claiming he said something nitpickingly different from the thing he said, and blandly wondering aloud why you’re being so unreasonable and silly as to attack him. It’s like verbal squid ink. It’s completely impossible to have an honest argument with him, and frustrating to try.
Oh, come on – there is no reason to get so defensive! I didn’t accuse you of causing riots. I merely used a metaphor – that of pouring gasoline on a fire – to point out that speaking to people who are as enraged as these folks justifiably are by presenting them with a cool, rational lecture about the need to act in a more constructive manner is likely to enrage them even further.
Obama had a Democratic congress? I bet that’s news to Obama. Do you count the blue dogs like Lieberman who openly endorsed McCain and constantly voted against Obama as part of that Democratic majority. Nice, but no matter how many times misinformation is repeated doesn’t make it any less untrue.
Here’s proof Obama never really had a Democratic congress beyond a total of 4 months when ACA was passed, even then Kennedy was sick and unable to vote many times . Franken was not sworn in until after Kennedy’s death so Obama did the best he could with what he had.
Here’s the timeline for this imaginary Democratic congress Obama never had.
Obama never had a filibuster proof Democratic congress which is crucial as Republicans swore to obstruct anything and everything Obama did.
It’s possible they haven’t done enough, but it’s very unfair to say they’ve been complete failure, especially when they inherited these problems because of decades of indifferent Democratic voters who allowed Republicans to constantly win the white house causing the current situation via a super conserv SCOTUS. As the old saying goes, help yourself and heaven will help you. Liberals need to help themselves then the Democratic politicians can help them. People love to point the finger of blame at others while always absolving themselves of their part of the responsibility. Voters are also to blame for this mess. Stop the 1% buying elections by going out to vote, and stop whining as if one person alone can change everything in this country. There are several branches of government in the US not just one branch. Stop the misinformation and be realistic.
So to reason with them I yell at them and hand them some gas and matches? That has not worked in my experience. Baltimore’s mayor was just shown on CNN saying essentially what I did. She was rational and cool.
And I expect if I said to you what you said to me you too would get defensive. I know a bit of what it’s like to have no prospects.
I agree some are justifiably angry but I’m also thinking some just want to cause mayhem. The best example of that was the guy who, while being filmed by CNN, stabbed a fire hose such that firemen couldn’t douse the fire at the CVS store. A reporter ask the guy “Do you want to burn down the neighborhood?” The guy took off his gas mask and then replied something unintelligible. Clearly a man out just to cause destruction for no reason.other than he could. I’m no expert at understanding people’s motivations
Truce please?
That’s always true. There’s no doubt since no group is ever 100% uniform in their intent, desires, or agendas. Some are legitimately angry, others are opportunistic troublemakers who are always ready to participate in malfeasance. Can’t judge a book by its cover.
