The percentage of households that own a gun is declining-itâs now only 1 in 3-but the total number of guns has increased, such that each of those households owns around 10 guns. Perhaps saturation has occurred, since you can only fire two guns at a time using both hands. Even taking off your shoes and socks you can only fire four at once. Hence the increasing desperation shown by the NRA.
Donald Trump files for moral bankruptcy.
A REAL gun man can fire five at time. The fifth one is where all his fantasies come true.
Hilariously, unregulated PE helped put Remington here. A bunch of that debt was taken on after a PE buyout and then distributed out to the PE firmâs managers and investors, without a dime of it going into the company.
Which is, of course, the primary PE firm business modelâbuy a basically healthy company, embed your partners into the management and suck money out of the company in the form of âmanagement feesâ for the valuable work they do selling off operating assets and moving boxes around on the T.O. Then, load the company up with debt, use the proceeds to pay out âreturnsâ to the partners and the PE firmâs investors and pass it on to another PE firm, which will repeat the process until they canât find another greater fool to take it on. At that point, of course, you take the company public again, pocket the proceeds and let the new shareholders learn the importance of reading the prospectus and the financials before buying in to a public offering the hard way, by having their interest wiped out and the former bondholders made the new shareholders.
âRemington Files For Bankruptcy Protection As Sales Slump.â
âTrumpâs election has heralded limp returns and sagging profits for the gun culture. Despite NRA hopes for a rise in market penetration among insecure GOP men, flaccid sales led to brand shrinkage among his overcompensating Republican base.â
Sad!
Thanks Obama.
Maybe Wall Street and the business community will be a force for good in the gun area just as they have been for issues in NC, Indiana, Georgia and other ultra conservative states relating to homophobia and nutso legislation. Sure they arenât doing it because itâs the right thing to do, but who cares as long as they throw their weight onto the gun control side.
And within a household, thereâs usually just one person who owns a gun (or multiple guns). Tough to pin down, but the figure for âpeople who personally own a gunâ is probably something closer to 1 in 5. And those who identify âhuntingâ as a hobby they pursue is down to 15%.
This, of course, is why politicians shouldnât be frightened by the âtheyâre coming for your guns!â screamers. The vast majority of us donât own a gun, have never owned a gun, donât want to own a gun, and would be perfectly happy if the government did, in fact, come for the guns that are in the hands of the goobers who still have them.
Slighly OT, but remember when the neo-naziâs shouted âJews will not replace us!â at their tiki-torch march in Charlotte?
It finally clicked for me late Saturday that the kids from MSD were basically saying to the NRA-enabled politicians âwe will replace you.â
Thoughts and prayers, etc., etc.
Aaawwww, this is just awful. As said above my thoughts and prayers.
heâs been there for 71 years.
(sigh) This echo-chamber thread is another exhibit showing how âlibrulzâ donât understand why anyone might want to own guns, and really donât care to. Not every gun owner is a slaughter-crazed macho man. Youâve also got collectors. Folks who like to re-load their own ammunition and carefully document how well each different load performs, you know, kind of like science. People who hunt - and why should you be surprised that different weapons would work better for ducks v deer? You use different golf clubs, donât you? You have more than one pair of shoes - but only one pair of feet, right?
Okay, let the excoriation begin. Continue to prove my point.
Maybe you havenât noticed it, but right wing folks are asking why lefties are so obsessed with their private parts.
Thoughts and prayers, thoughts and prayers.
In a round-about way, yes, this is due to President Obama ⌠leaving the WH. Iâll bet deep down, those gun manufacturers and sellers never wanted Trump to win because they knew theyâd have no boogey man in the White House to rail against. A âfriendâ in the WH is no friend to their pocketbooks.
So, yes, thank you, Obama!
You tell us how to sort those out, reliably, and weâre with you all the way.
I am a liberal and I own guns. So your entire comment is debunked.
Thanks for playing, komrade.
