The unemployment rate here on the prairie has increased because of our Governor’s scummy dealings.

Thanks Brownback!

Perry’s signature job-building initiative is something called the Texas Enterprise Fund, which aims to persuade out-of-state companies to move to Texas, or expand there. One of its beneficiaries, Texas Institute for Genomic Medicine, got $50 million in return for creating what Perry said were more than 12,000 jobs. An investigation by The Wall Street Journal revealed the fund folk had been counting every single biotech job created anywhere in the state for the previous six years. Actually the number was more like 10.

The best little job creator in Texas, that’s Ricky.

Gov. Goodhair is the quintessential Republican: dedicated to the belief that one need only say a thing to make it true.

Trust the man. He knows people game the system.

Perry officially retired in January so he could start collecting his lucrative pension benefits early, but he still gets to collect his salary — and has in turn dramatically boosted his take-home pay.

Perry makes a $150,000 annual gross salary as Texas governor. Now, thanks to his early retirement, Perry, 61, gets a monthly retirement annuity of $7,698 before taxes, or $6,588 net. That raises his gross annual salary to more than $240,000.

Last line in that article:

In his most ambitious policy prescription so far as a presidential candidate, Perry proposed a partial privatization of Social Security for future retirees, changes that would not affect the federal benefits he will receive.

Social security for me, but not for thee.

Doctored, no. Using an old, out of date way of measuring, yes. Does anyone believe that the unemployment rate is really 5.6%? Plenty of people have given up looking for work completely and they just aren’t counted anymore. But this has been done in both Republican and Democratic administrations.

Wasn’t the last major revision performed in 2002-3, when W. wanted to ensure the Tech Bust didn’t appear to make as big a footprint compared to the old calculations?

Remember the movie “Say Anything?” That.

Yeah, all three of the members get together Sundays and agitate for Conservatism.
