Discussion: RICK GATES PLEADS GUILTY: Former Trump Campaign Aide To Cooperate With Mueller

I think in the 12th graf beginning with “Rumblings” the author confuses Mueller with Manafort. Sorry to nitpick.

When Mueller gets to trump he will be easier to handle.

Time to mingle in the lobby, the main performers are still in front of mirrors applying makeup. The excitement will build…

I think that by talking about the humiliation now Gates was implicitly telling people that the cost would be much higher, including the part about not seeing his kids outside prison until he was a grandfather.

The rule for pleading to a lesser charge should be that you don’t get to ask for a less-than-usual sentence on top of that.

“A new court filing Friday signaled that former Trump campaign aide Rick Gates is poised to plead guilty in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation…”

Manafort picked the wrong week to give up smoking drinking popping pills huffing paint snorting bath salts.

The criminal information is here. Two counts: 1 for Conspiracy against the US. 1 for False statements. This dude was looking at 30 years. He’ll be capped at 5. He’s getting a great deal and the only way Mueller would’ve given that is if he gave up a lot of info with documentation and recordings. I expect Gates to be a very key witness in revealing the full extent of the Trump campaign’s efforts to coordinate with the Russians.

You are right. He is trying to have it both ways. Also, Gates claimed that these new charges showed that there was no collusion or rigging of the 2016 election vote tallies and election outcomes by Russia. This in my opinion, was nod to Iwanka and Cuck Kushner to pardon him.

Who was the Member of Congress cited in the new Mueller indictment of Gates to which he is pleading guilty on false statements? March 29, 2013: meeting between Manafort, senior lobbyist for Company A and Member of Congress. Ukraine was discussed. Dana Rohrabacher perhaps?

Agree, and all the back and forth stories on him suggest he did not get to the plea easy. He did NOT want to be the stooge here, but I think he’s facing the music. Definitely the biggest fish so far.

Convicted felon Chuck Colson had a sign in his office that read “Once you have them by the balls, their hearts and minds will follow” which is a quote attributed to Teddy Roosevelt.

Bobby Three Sticks has a lot of balls in a vice grip and he continues to add to his ball collection.

You mean the Abramson tweet you asked me about yesterday that I pooh-poohed that turned out to be exactly correct? That one?

Just Fridays. Never Friday’s.

“That suggests Gates lied in the course of plea negotiations.” All you lawyers out there: is lying during plea negotiations a common occurrence? Or is it somewhat remarkable?
