Something tells me that the IG and FBI HR folks didnt make the decision that the AG sez it “acted” on…
You mean FAKE ® Ariznona and SCAM ® South Carolina?
Those two scroungy fucks are just angling for a post-Trump world. They only fucking care about themselves too. ALL Republicans are complicit fucking traitors now. Wake up folks - these dirty sub human parasites are going to have to be dealt with by we the people.
Flake responded. “Talking to my colleagues all along, it was, ‘Once he goes after Mueller, then we’ll defund the investigation.’
Bipartisan proposals to protect the investigation died on the vine last year.
As best I can tell, this is empty talk and CYA chest puffing: the time to close the barn door is before the horse has left.
The GOP saw all this coming in 2016 . Didn’t care then, don’t care now. Don’t expect the ‘adult’ members of Congress to act. Don’t depend on ‘Daddy Gummint’ to protect us. Just how many Republican candidates for President could have actually done the job?
Run for office. Register people to vote, then get them to the polls in November.
We got to get rid of these slackers and enablers and chiselers and grifters and con men and crooks and Russian tools.
I can think of no two voices that have had greater influence over the direction of the Republican party than those of Jeff Flake and Lindsey Graham.
They have had the ear of the Republican leadership for quite some time, especially of President Trump himself. Time and again we have seen President Tump reflect upon the sound advice of these two confidantes, just as we have grown accustomed to President Tump heeding the guidance, expertise, and knowledge of his advisors, all the best people.
And I for one am grateful that CNN had the wisdom and evenhandedness to let these two great statesmen share those remarks with the world. The best interests of the nation surely were in their hearts.
We can trust that the impact of their remarks will be long-lasting and provide much-needed stability in these trying times.
GOP:
Gutless, Obsequious Pathetics
After a second cup of coffee, I agree with you ![]()
“Do you really think that [Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell and [House Speaker] Paul Ryan will stand up and say ‘No, Mr. President, you can’t do this’?” he asked.
“I hope so,” Flake responded.
“Then he broke into uncontrollable guffaws, amid howls of laughter on the set.”
“Similar outbursts were reported throughout the greater Washington area, and as far away as Wichita.”
…and panic sets in
On the day that Trump declared his candidacy (near three years ago!), my thought was that he fancies himself becoming America’s first strong man, that his ultimate aim would be to upend governmental checks and balances. NOTHING that he’s done dissuades me from that idea.
On Friday, McCaffrey Tweeted his concern that Trump is a security threat to the country. That doesn’t qualify as news on NPR. Instead, NPR today extolls an app that celebrates fake news.
Is it true that America’s five organized crime families are now directly controlled by one particular Russian oligarch?
He is going to fire Mueller. That’s the only hope he has of getting out of trouble. He’s like a trapped mouse eagerly gnawing away at the trap to set himself free.
Hold on to your seat. It is going to get extremely turbulent. And the thing is, it didn’t have to be this way if the GOP had stood up to him earlier on instead of ignoring his poor performance in office. Shame on them all.
BTW, I am copyrighting the title “With Malice Towards All” in my chronicle of this rupture of the space-time contiuum.
“Do you really think that [Senate Majority Leader] Mitch McConnell and [House Speaker] Paul Ryan will stand up and say ‘No, Mr. President, you can’t do this’?” he asked.
Of course they will do that, it’s just standing up and saying something. The problem with McConnell and Ryan is they never do anything.
Mr. Flake then added- ‘Here, pull my finger!’
But firing Mueller does not end the investigation at all. This is not a zero sum game, but people keep treating it like that.
The investigation will continue. The evidence will still be there, as will the guilty pleas and convictions. I don’t want to brush off that firing Mueller isn’t significant, but this is not Alderaan being blown up by the Death Star and it’s all over.
Petty criminal minds think this way, which is why the Thing probably believes firing Mueller will be the end of it. After 20 years of “Law and Order”, “FBI Files” and “Forensic Files,” I can confidently tell you that will not be the case.
So the usual suspects go on the usual shows to urge moderation. That’s just to give the pundits something to talk about. Meanwhile, nothing is going to happen.
This Kabuki is beyond old.
Doesn’t matter. At this point, I don’t even believe these two.
It Is or was until I thought it was a plausible “truth”…then the plausible became possible and the possible became certain. Well, maybe not, but the idea of using soup cans could be viable offense in a world of uncertainty, measured against Trumpky and his loyal F-Troop, fans’, sycophants’ and lawyers’ lies, obfuscation and BS! #refriedbeans

It burns going in and burns going out!!
