Discussion: Republicans Urge Trump To Stop Mueller Attacks: 'Don't Go There'

“If you have an innocent client, Mr. Dowd, act like it,” Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) said.

And if you don’t?

Flake and Graham…again? Who else?

Graham. of course, is one of those Republicans urging the appointment of a second special counsel, this one to investigate alleged FBI bias in the Clinton investigation and in the FISA application. In other words, to step all over Mueller’s toes in his investigation and to make his job essentially impossible.

So for him to come out a day later and say impeding Mueller would cross a red line is hypocrisy of the highest order. Which is what we expect from Lindsey Graham, of course.

That’ll work. Tell him to stop. /snark

This is still not on Ryan’s “radar”. He’s deep in thought about a second tax cut. It’s like a checkmate scenario. He’s figured out 2 ways to destroy the country.

Washington burns while Ryan fiddles.

“I hope so,” Flake responded. “Talking to my colleagues all along, it was, ‘Once he goes after Mueller, then we’ll take action.’ I think that people see that as a massive red line that can’t be crossed.”

Rump has been going after Mueller for months now. And, - what? Rump has NO PROBLEM with crossing that massive red line and every Rethug knows that now. As tena brilliantly summed up in her analogy a few days ago, the Rethugs made a major mistake thinking a rabid, mange ridden dog could be tamed. Now, they’re stuck with it. The GOP will survive after Rump but in some other form. Not sure what exactly as we’re in charter territory now.

Ryan is deep in Koch.
He is not capable when it comes to thinking.

Based on the last couple years evidence, I think it’s reasonable to assume the GOP will do everything in their power to protect our nation and weaken our enemies, both foreign and domestic… Just kidding, lol, we’re totally effed. 2018 midterms can’t come soon enough.

No need to ask Ryan or McConnell about Trump, go directly to the people really in control of the Republican Congress: Koch brothers. They also own our VP.

These oblivious clowns think that a little tut-tutting is going to deter Trump and earn them a statesmanship medal. It’s going to take a bit more, I’d say.
Watch out for suspicious fires.

Mr Graham,

Republican belief in the rule of law is no different from your opposition to deficits. It all depends on which party occupies the White House.

“I think we owe it to the average American to have a hearing in the [Senate] Judiciary Committee where Attorney General Sessions comes forward with whatever documentation he has about the firing and give Mr. Mccabe a cans to defend himself,” Graham said separately.

You need to be very clear here…should it be couple navy bean soup ”cans” or will Campbell’s Mushroom Soup do. And is he’s throwing these at the WH or just Sessions?

“Talking to my colleagues all along, it was, ‘Once he goes after Mueller, then we’ll take action.’ I think that people see that as a massive red line that can’t be crossed.”

I can’t find it now, but there was some sketch (Monty Python, I think) where a very silly and ultimately impotent person draws a line in the earth and says “Cross this line, you die!” Where in the scene partners, without hesitation, crosses the line. This is repeated (probably thrice for comedy) until person A says “Fine, I go in my house, shut the door and if you knock, I won’t answer!” [Totally BUTCHERING this from memory – anybody know what it is???]

It’s a nice theory, Flake, but I have yet to see the GOP show evidence of spine, morals or service to country. Pretty soon they’re going to be sitting in their house, covering their ears and singing “La-la-la!” to shut out We the People screaming for justice.

You act even more like it.

This is a fascinating example of that sort of thing, even if it’s not the one you mean. Notice that Bugs is surprised when Sam does cross the line, but instantly sees how to use his reflexive antagonism against him.

Scarlett O’Graham is going to have to have her pearls re-strung, after all that clutching.

Yeah, I saw that one… it’s close, but not British enough! :guardsman:

Flake and Gowdy. Two republicans who have announced their retirements and therefore have zero influence on any other sitting republican.
