Holy Mother of Pearl!
Maybe the Pope’s visit yesterday had more of an impact than we know.
Inmate takeover complete! Don’t let the door kick your ass on the way out.
I am not John Boehner’s biggest fan, but considering the possibilities that could come out of the nutjob caucus, this is not news to be celebrating. All things considered, when the economic security of this nation has been at stake, time and again, Boehner has told the far right to shove it, and passed a clean bill with the Democrats. He has done the best he can with the unruly caucus he has. This is not good news.
Seeya!
Wouldn’t wanna be ya!
He’s going to spend more time with his family - who happen to own a series of bars and tanning salons.
Let’s hope Republicans go true to recent form and put the most unreasonable TeaPartier they can in the position so the country can see what their party is really all about.
The crazies finally got their way. This is bad for the country.
Happy Dance!!
What’s next? Paul Ryan?

will his final legacy be to leave with the government shutdown because he hasn’t got the spine or the balls to force a REAL budget thru the House?
it would seal the deal for him as the worst Speaker in history…
They’ll replace him as Speaker with some nutbar, and the GOP will go down to stinging defeat in next year’s election.
If the replacement is awful enough—a very distinct possibility----the Democrats could regain the House.
Will he allow a vote on an immigration bill first?
I think this is bad news, isn’t it? I mean, what will replace him? Nothing good.
Wow! Just yesterday, I was laying out why I thought he wouldn’t be around much longer, but I had no idea it would be anywhere near this soon. I figured he’d step down when his term ends in January of 2017.
Frankly, this isn’t good news. Not at all. I don’t like Boehner at all. He’s a terrible leader, an awful statesman, and yet he’s far and away a better leader and a better statesman than anyone else who could have the juice to take his place. I sincerely hope that before he vacates his office, he and McConnell will pass a clean funding bill that keeps the government open until the lame duck session and another that extends the debt ceiling until the next Congress. No matter what you think of Boehner, he’s the devil we know, and he’s almost guaranteed to be better than the devil we don’t know.
I wish I had read this before I posted. I agree completely.
Speaker Ryan?
Yikes. I think I agree with Austin_Dave’s comments,
I celebrated too soon, perhaps…
He might also be ill or have real family concerns.
