With damn good reason. I worry that many of these kids won’t see their families again. Have we ever gotten a proper accounting from the government?

You know what, I mounted a fairly lengthy defense of some of your positions in [another thread][1], and defended you personally against charges of trolldom.
This post of yours (and not a few others in this here thread) is making me regret that. Not in principle, because I despise cheap accusations of trolldom, and they’re all too common in these parts1. But in having defended you in the process. You might just, maybe, possibly, want to consider cooling your jets a wee teeny tiny bit. Or not. Your choice. And reap what you sow.

There is also a helluva a lot of smiting and orders to kill them all including their children in the Old Testament. I started reading the Bible from page 1 when I was undertaking a long wilderness hike and just gave up somewhere around the necessary rituals for proper goat sacrificing part. Parts sound like they were written by the guy surrounded by all the fire.
You have a point. Myself, I believe there’s two possibilities.
- She’s not that great at herding cats
- It was an insurrection she was glad for and maybe encouraged to save herself from burdening corporations with onerous safety rules for immigrant children. That, and a tug of war with Mitch that she knew would fail if her bill did pass the House.
IOW. she was like Schumer privately encouraging the blue dogs to vote for the Dodd_Frank reform bill while voting against it himself for appearances.
She basically has to attract money and support for her party from those who dole it out. I’m sure she would like to go back to the days when the powerful and wealthy didn’t control everything and she could actually represent who she was elected to represent many years ago. I’m afraid those days are gone.
I generally never criticize her for doing what she has to do.
There are times for dispassionate political analysis, and I greatly value your erudite insights in these comments. However, children are being caged, falling ill and dying, and Pelosi and much of the Dem party is now actively facilitating this ugly chapter in American history.
Her need to assuage her donors with the lives of little children… I just don’t have words…

Having visited the holocaust museum seeing the photos, the clothes, reading the diary entries I didn’t find these artifacts offensive, but necessary so we wouldn’t repeat history. IMO this country is dipping a toe in those waters again. Images carry a lot of power - more so than words for most people, which is exactly why the administration is banning photography.

I went out for a run so was gone for while.
Way back when the media made the public aware of the child separation policy, I brought up the fact that Schumer and Pelosi knew about it before it was put into practice. Had they spoke up back then, maybe many kids would still be with their parents.
No one wanted or liked to hear that.
If Nancy, Chuck or Reid really gave a damn about immigration, they would have supported Bush’s efforts when many Republicans were on board. They did want to give Bush and Republicans a win on immigration They refused to go along.with any immigration reform.
Had Obama really gave a damn, he would have done something when we had a majority. Immigration reform is something I doubt either party will tackle in a serious manner. It’s a hot potato politically.
Instead they will perpetually fret over the fate of the Dreamers and vote for more band aids as far as border security and etc.
Many here know this on some level but choose to fool themselves.about the party they want to have instead of the party we have.
Speaking out about it won’t change a damn thing. No one here has the power to change anything even if they wanted to. They prefer to maintain a quixotic view of our party. Not many are into reality in a big way.
I’ve got to run some errands. Great reading different opinions here like yours and a few others.

the AMERICAN press are ,or used to be, an enterprising group…WTH, they get candid photos of naked celebrities anytime they want to…whats stopping them from using drones and other devices, to film these places?? get off your collective asses and do your job…why isn’t TPM doing this? I guess its easier to sit in the AC and write about whatever, than to actually do something…

Human kind suffers from a serious lack of empathy. The fact that Miller and Kushner are well within six degrees of atrocity makes them all the more inhumane. While no big fan of Schumar I wouldn’t put him in any category with the other two.
