Short answer: that comes at cost.
‘Pelosi- Round 2’ came about, because of oversight (eying an actual exit) and she was seen as an ‘anti Trump’.
There needs to be a receipt for the ‘blue dogs’, but when they’re aware of their muscle, they’ll be likely giving em as opposed to.

The torture of children should be Trump’s problem. Instead, Pelosi panicked and made it her problem.
Either the Senate or the House bill to address the plight of the children in these concentration camps would work if there were people of good faith at DHS. There are no people of good faith at DHS. It’s run by Stephen Miller and he’s firing those whom he considers ‘soft’ (meaning those who might actually abide the law) and is replacing them with more extreme hardliners. Does anyone really believe this money will go for good uses? They won’t even let cameras in.
I think Pelosi should’ve simply refused to take up the Senate bill and demanded access to the facilities for the MSM and Congress w/cameras. We should’ve also demanded that DHS/ICE take the emergency supplies that the public has wanted to provide. We need medical folks and counselors in there. We need to remove these children from these facilities. Accelerate this process. If we had concessions on those things then it could’ve been ok to vote it out. Call out Trump for his cruelty and make this his problem. F**k Chuck Schumer too.
As many know, I’ve been critical of Pelosi on impeachment and many Dems give her a pass. We should see that on this border/concentration camp issue and her dismissive comments on the Carroll rape allegations that the same pattern on impeachment appears on other matters too. She doesn’t believe in oversight. She doesn’t believe in taking any risks outside her narrow conception of a legislative agenda. She will allow the GOP to win on anything where there is even a 10% risk to Dems. She has yielded to blue dogs when she should’ve been whipping them. But I think the blue dogs are a convenient scapegoat here. Pelosi just didn’t want to deal with this issue. She lost some political capital today.

For profit prisons also forbid AA or other 12 step recovery groups. They do nothing to prevent recidivism. They WANT released prisoners to return to crime and jail.The entire goal is to keep the cells full.
For the same reason, they lobby against funding successful crime prevention programs,

Really? I see no reason to accept that framing at all regarding Pelosi. The Senate vote was overwhelming (8? to ??) and that caused some House Democrats to rethink their position. With all of the negative press about the conditions in these camps, do you really expect Dems to not send $$? I do agree that the House bill had stronger oversight of looking after these kids properly…but it was not going to be enacted with that margin of Senate votes. Congress is not one chamber.

She lost all of her political capital today. She has no credibility left. I’m ashamed to say that I thought she’d be a good choice as Speaker. Little did I know that she would be such a failure. The progressives were right about her. We’ve just given $4 billion to Trump’s brownshirts to continue rounding up little kids.

Yeah, I do expect Dems to not the send the money until we get the camps opened up to cameras. We’re talking about Stephen Miller here. He’s a Nazi. Why can’t we tell the world that he’s a child killing Nazi, that Trump should replace him, and we need to get the cameras, doctors, psychologists in there now?! She could’ve used her bully pulpit for a week and seen what happens.
This situation has been on going for months. It didn’t just happen because AOC said ‘concentration camps’ and the AP came out with an article while a Trump attorney face planted herself in front of a judge. Pelosi has known about this. Get a camera in there. Use your bully pulpit. We’re all going to look very foolish when Miller takes that money and uses it to lock more kids up and redirects it to the wall.
