Sounds to me like the Air Force has a lot of investigating to do. How did this man’s story slip through the cracks? How many others’ histories aren’t being reported to the FBI?

He snuck his mental health onto the base. That’s all it was!

You mean besides ignoring all the sexual assaults?

These are all red herrings. The real rpohlem is the overabundance of dangerous guns in the US. Consequences of these are:

  1. Far greater likelihood of poor vetting because unlike other countries where few request guns and so they get better thoroughly, here it’s routine, associated with all the executional pitfalls associated with things being routine.
  2. A police force that genuinely has a lot to worry about whenever they are called into a situation. The odds of guns being involved are ridiculously high. If you’re part of Blue Lives Matter and don’t think guns should be significantly more restricted than they are now then you should be ashamed.
  3. The increased Militarizarion of the police. If regular people can axquireilitwry grade weapons so easily the police obviously needs stronger stuff to counteract them. If you’re libertarian and dont fight for regulating guns then you should disown yourself.

Let’s be very clear on this: The Dems are yet again failing to message correctly. WHY?

On March 16, 2017 the House passed H.R. 1181 which alters current law requiring the Veterans Administration to provide the names of veterans who have been classified as “mentally incompetent” and cannot handle their own financial affairs to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). H.R. 1181 requires the VA to obtain a court determination before a veteran’s name can be sent to the NICS, although the legislation does not provide funding or a framework for this new court process, which currently does not exist. The legislation is also retroactive, which means that 170,000 people already on the NICS list would be automatically removed, making it easier for them to buy a gun.

And while we’re ont he topic of the mentally ill acquiring firearms:

On February 2, 2017 the House passed H.J. Res. 40 which prevents the Social Security Administration from reporting to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) the names of individuals with a severe, medically documented mental disability who also require a designated representative to oversee their benefits. This reporting requirement was included in 1968 gun safety legislation. This resolution makes it easier for someone with a documented mental disability to buy a gun. UPDATE: 14. The President signed H.J. Res. 40 on February 28, 2017

WHERE ARE THE FUCKING DEMS AND WHY AREN’T THEY BLUDGEONING THE GOP MERCILESSLY WITH THIS SHIT???

The man accused of shooting and killing 26 people at a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas on Sunday escaped from a behavioral center in 2012, threatened his military superiors and tried to sneak weapons onto the Air Force base he lived on…

He got a discount at Don's Guns when he told the clerk that story.

@sniffit, you beat me to this, but right with you on why can’t Dem’s (and MSM for that matter) hammer this messaging!?! Expose these hypocritical clowns! Oh, and there is this…

That 2005 PLCAA law is an effen trip!

You can stand naked in a bus station with a goose on your head and masturbate all over the ticket clerk and not get committed. The fact Jim Irsay walks free speaks to the difficulty of having someone committed.

The sad fact is, none of that would have really mattered. As long as we allow private party sales without a mandatory background check through a federally licensed dealer, a prohibited list will do nothing.

edit: This is the grossly misnamed “gun show loophole”.

That should replace Lazarus’ The New Colossus on the base of Lady Liberty.

@steviedee111 - hmm… that is a very detailed description of an imaginary event. Just sayin’…

but Irsay wasnt convicted of a felony, booted form the army and had a vendetta to kill officers and the parts of his ex wife…the fact that this guys actions didnt warrant further evaluation of his psychological state is kind of messed up…

Of course, what’s important over at Faux News is twofold: (1) we can’t get into his phone to see his selfies and (2) making sure everyone knows he was an atheist…repeat: atheist…repeat: atheist…repeat: atheist…repeat: atheist…repeat: atheist…because that’s a KKKrischun Nashun trigger word for “liberal.”

During the January 21 March, I kept thinking people needed to head over to NRA headquarters and mob them with the same kind of mass disapproval.
