So we shall see if WH staff are stupid enough to listen to his “advice”.
Translation:
“Please do not get an attorney so it will be easier for us to throw you under the bus.”
Protecting Trump at the expense of everyone else.
If they’re dumb enough to work for Trump, they just might believe him.
I don’t think I have ever seen a worse piece of legal advice. If ever there was a sign that you SHOULD lawyer up, it’s when your boss’s lawyer tells you not to.
I’m staggered by it. I really am.
It might also get this guy disbarred, since he’s not only (1) offering legal advice to people who are not his clients as though he were their lawyer, but also (2) providing objectively terrible advice at that.
Mob boss consigliere to caporegime: Fuggetaboutit.
getting a lawyer would break the Personal Loyalty oaths they gave to Trump
You don’t want to be the last guy on that train. And if you’re looking to Trump* to safeguard your interests then you get what you deserve.
“You don’t have to get an attorney – I’ve got the best attorney in history here to protect us all against those election-losing fake-news-producing democrats. BTW, make sure you pay your 2% contribution to your defense, including any arrears that you might not owe.”
Yeah, you want to listen to the guy who is not representing you, has a conflict of interest in giving you any advice at all, and has zero experience in handling response to any kind of criminal investigation, much less anything this high profile and complex.
Oh,and who has spent his career being a partisan political hack representing RWNJs who feel like their religious liberty is infringed if anyone else doesn’t follow their beliefs.
Edit: I was wrong about which one this guy is. As @johnscotus says, the RWNJ is the other guy Trump hired.
It’s a conflict of interest for him to try to persuade them to let him do it all.
Years and years ago I had a client who was the wife of a drug dealer. They got busted and his lawyer, who has since been disbarred for this shit, talked my client into letting him represent both, so that she ended up in prison even though the drugs were not hers, but her husband’s that he hid in her purse.
That’s the kind of conflict that will get you a win on appeal if you were the victim of it.
The best and the brightest.
Though technically I guess this is the best advice for his client. So much easier to get them under the bus this way.
Has this guy had a stroke? Or is that the only picture we’ve got of him?
Not a lawyer, but this sounds like a significant breach of ethics.
Who could file a complaint?
I think that’s Sukelow…the other shyster.
“Nice job you have there. It would be too bad if we found out you had retained private counsel.”
Dear White House Staffers:
This advice will not turn out well for you. You have been warned.
Sincerely,
Concerned.
