“Stage a rally.” That’s the operative word: Stage.
What a lowlife.
He’s also having a closed door briefing with the Arlington, VA Walmart sporting goods department on the advisability of a nuclear strike on North Korea.
It is forbidden that the President enter the Senate or House Chambers without official permission, I understand.
The Sergeants-at-Arms must do their duty and bar this violation of law and custom.
And I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow this House Chamber door down!
Scary!
Don’t bar him. Wait until he enters, then detain.
And keep in cells in the basement until impeachment is complete.
He needs his fix. Nasty Nancy won’t let him do it with the adults, so he’s compromising with the kids’ table.
Kind of. His responses are becoming more and more infantile.
How about Trump go to that KY high school and do a State of the Confederacy speech? They’ve already got the hats. All of the Rs would be happy to join him, and McConnell could introduce him.
Give it Donnie.
Then the Dems can give a “State of the Mindless” rebuttal speech.
I bet he shows up the 29th and defies Pelosi to bar his entry. He’ll extend an invitation to all GOPers, SCOTUS and others normally attending to also show up. Not quite sure what sort of clusterf**k would ensue, but I think there’s a good chance he goes there. Probably figures in the face of his announced intention to do so Pelosi will relent, but welcomed or not either way would suit him just fine.
Perhaps just turning off the lights while he’s negotiating any stairs is all that’s needed.
Those whom the gods would destroy they first make mad.
So just how long until he stages a pretend coup against himself by the Deep State, declares a National Emergency and Martial Law?
Since he appears to be taking his main cues from Erdogan, that’s gotta be in the cards at some point.
Delivering the SOTU address is a relatively recent practice. It’s not required POTUS show up, but he must be invited and now he hasn’t been. But I keep replaying the tape where he pushes past all the leaders at a summit to get to the front of the pack.
For Thomas Jefferson’s first address on Dec. 8, 1801, he sent written copies to both houses of Congress to be read by each chamber’s clerks. Jefferson wanted to simplify what he believed was an aristocratic imitation of the British monarch’s speech from the throne, which he thought ill-suited for a republic.
The practice of sending written copies to Congress continued for more than a century, when Woodrow Wilson resumed the tradition of delivering the annual message in person on April 8, 1913. He’s also credited with transforming the speech from a report on executive branch activity into a blueprint for the president’s legislative agenda for the year.
More inconvenient facts getting in his way.
Didn’t they already use that plot on Homeland?
"In the network’s words, Trump is planning for two different “State of the Union” speeches, “one a more traditional address delivered to Congress in the House chamber or some other location in D.C., the other prepared for a political rally at a location outside of Washington, D.C.”
He already shot that wad.
