As much as I don’t care for Ailes, he did turn Fox News into a juggernaut.
I think they’re going to miss him, especially when he winds up at with their competition. Though, off the top of my head, I’m not sure who that is on the conservative side of the dial.
Someone somewhere has got to be looking at the average age and demos for their most watched programs, and that person has got to be very, very worried about the future. I partly think you’re right, that this is an opportunity for Fox to get back into the actual news business and expand their audience long term. On the other hand, they’d have to be willing to sacrifice some of their audience in the short run. As others have said, the tell is in who they pick to replace him.

I’m betting the findings of the investigation are so horrific that he will be unemployable. I’m also betting the results will be released to the public, if not addressed publicly by the Murdochs. Ailes’ behavior is so beyond offensive that I tend to think they have to address it publicly.

I was sure that they wouldn’t renew Ailes’ contract, but this is faster than I expected.

I hope someone can better explain this, but my understanding is that Fox contracts include a strict arbitration agreement. Suing Ailes personally is a way around arbitration. But I’m curious as to the process if other former or current Fox employees come forward and want to sue. Can a class action suit be somehow forced into arbitration?
