This might be related to that story yesterday about the RNC abandoning some ad time they reserved in the swing states… the gist/speculation was that they were running out of money. And… this was before the fit hit the shan with the grope tape.
How soon will we see a video from the RNC and the Trump campaign together with Trump "confessing his sins,’ just like this cad did?
All you have to do is replace Swaggart with Trump
“So I want to take a moment today to remind my fellow Republicans that it is not only acceptable to choose your country over your party - it is your duty.”
I, for one, have had enough of the “Hillary is just as bad” bullshit. Glad to see that Arnold doesn’t go there.
Roma Downey’s husband has the Apprentice outtakes. She was a supporter of a former IRA member in Derry not Londonderry as the Brits call it. My grandmother was a Downey and I understand Roma is a democrat. Tick, tick, tick.
But this is Trump, whose premature demise has been confidently predicted again and again and again…
At this point, I can’t help but recall a passage from the sixth book in the The Hitchhiker’s Guide trilogy:
“What you think is the happy ending is actually a brief respite before the serial killer that you thought was dead gets back up and butchers everyone except the girl with the biggest b@@bs, who dies first in the sequel the following year.”
Yes, I am very relieved that in the last few weeks several journalists, first and foremost Fahrenthold, restored (if only partially so far) my opinion of the 4th estate.
Trump ads are still in heavy rotation in Nasty Nati. Not sure of who sponsored them, but ads promising a family earning $60k a year a 20 percent tax cut were on all channels in prime time.
This entire thing makes it so damn clear why running Hillary against Trump was always so perfect. I knew that Trump vs a woman candidate would get interesting. I didn’t know it would get this interesting, but I can’t imagine a meltdown this massive if he was facing any other Democrat.
But the hope is that a tidal wave of uneducated white men will not materialize and will not lift all the boats. On the other hand, hopefully many reasonable republican voters will not be fooled by late denunciations of Trump and at worst will not show, at best will vote for candidates with more principles and morality.
What tidal wave of white men? They are a small minority compared to a coalition of women, African Americans, Latinos, Hispanics, American Muslims, LGBT Americans…I’m sure I’m missing several demographics he’s insulted…
Victory project?
(spits coffee)
OK, gotta change my shirt…
Folks, the take home message here is this: trump thinks he can say or do anything with out any consequences. Remember last year when he said he could stand in 5th ave and shoot someone and not lose voters? Now we hear him say he can do anything because he is a celebrity. anything…
Now, imaging a man as President who thinks he has total freedom without consequence.
This - and the rest of TPM’s current front page articles - are signs of the return of a shred of long-absent sanity to the GOP. Apparently, there really is a point past which you can lose even the most stalwart and party-first-and-foremost GOPer. Who knew? For months now I have thought that there weren’t any depths to which they would not willingly sink.
But here’s my question: if the GOP powers-that-be are somehow able to crowbar Trump out of his position at the head of the GOP ticket, then what? Likely, Pence moves to the top of the ticket and some other ding-dong is roped in to take the VP candidate slot. I can envision people voting for Mike Pence, douche-bag though he is. I can envision lots of people breathing a sigh of relief that now they can vote for their beloved GOP in good conscience. I can envision the GOP pulling out the stops and using every imaginable tool at their disposal to make Trump go away, or oust him if he won’t go willingly (which I can’t imagine him doing, ever). I suspect that Hillary’s lead would drop like a rock. This would not be a good thing for the country. Better than Trump, maybe, but still not good. Not good at all.
