HHS spokeswoman Charmaine Yoest told Politico that the use of a military plane was “important for maintaining security and having secure communications.”

Charmaine went on to say, “I mean, what if North Korea attacked someplace, and the President couldn’t consult with the Sec. of HHS on a secure channel immediately? What if that were to happen, Mr. Elite Reporter? Why, it wouldn’t matter at all!”

The White House approved Price’s use of a military plane for the trips abroad and told Politico that military planes are sometimes necessary for cabinet heads.

“Use of military aircraft for Cabinet and other essential travelers is sometimes an appropriate and necessary use of resources,” White House deputy press secretary Raj Shah told Politico.

When Price went overseas on military aircraft - if this was, in fact, authorized and permissible, albeit ridiculously and unnecessarily expensive - why did members of his staff fly commercial for the same trips? It would seem that if you’re going to waste money on a military plane, you should load up everybody on the same aircraft. Did staffers fly commercial due to lack of space (small military jet, but very cool for Price to fly on)? Personal comfort? They couldn’t stand to be in close quarters with this asshole for an entire overseas trip?
