Discussion: Report: Kuwait Relocates Event To Trump’s DC Hotel After Trump Org Pitch

So…is he trying to get impeached and removed from office so that he won’t have to do the hard work of actually being president?

Another day. Some more grifting. And so it goes, and goes, and …

One of the things that made the US “exceptional” was explicit actions to prevent quid pro quo activity, baksheesh, currying favor, with the head of state. So, it seems “we” don’t want that anymore. Bribery is expected and it isn’t “corruption” if it isn’t prosecuted. sigh

January 21st is going to be very interesting if Trump still owns the hotel. Does the GSA file a lawsuit? Does Trump fire the GSA? Does Congress bother to do their job to hold the president accountable? It’s like a telenovela, really, bad hair and all.

Thankfully this was done openly so there is no conflict of interest.

Four Seasons should sue for unfair competition/

That would be interesting, wouldn’t it?

ETA: And I think it should sue – it will suffer actual damages if it had a contract that was broken. It would be intentional or negligent interference with contract against the Trump Organization (or whoever).

Could Four Seasons now claim standing to sue Trump for violating the Emoluments Clause?

This Congress is as corrupt as the Orange Horror. They will do everything they can to enable him and tear up the laws that made our country unique.

I can’t help thinking about the veterans who were sold a bill of goods.

Not all, of course. Just the most vocal, who probably got a cut of the spoils.

Definition of emolument

1 : the returns arising from office or employment usually in the form of compensation or perquisites.

“Article I, Section 9, Clause 8 of the constitution states that no American officeholder shall, ‘without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state.’ The clause is no weird historical quirk. Gordon Wood, an American historian, argues that America’s founding fathers were obsessed with the problem of corruption, which they believed had doomed earlier republics.”

Insult to injury:

The Bernie folks gave the Trump/Faux News people the ability to crow about her being snubbed by more electors than he was. The circular firing squad just never ends. Maybe liberalism really is dead, if for no other reason than it’s so busy stabbing itself in the eyes and cutting off appendages just to prove it can.
