What’s so shocking here? These snippets voice the thoughts of every single white GOPer/Teatroll/conservative who has been in freakout mode for the past 6 years and the thoughts they have about demographic shifts that are taking away their power, privileges and primacy. The only thing remarkable about this is how non-dog-whistle it is and, therefore, how much I feel like I’m reading something I wrote when I’m being sarcastic and crass and putting words in their mouths. I read this at the link:

And uh, dude? Freedom is a basic right all humans have at birth. So restoring a basic right to someone doesn’t make you a hero. It just means you’re not being as much of a jerk anymore. But it still doesn’t mean I need to show gratitude for it. Like, wow. Thanks for not enslaving me. Now would you mind not assuming that I’m a criminal and just give me the same treatment you expect for yourself? No, I should be happy I’m free at all? Ok.
By that standard, we should all be grateful that we’re not slaves, and should be showing gratitude to everyone for not enslaving us. And I can only imagine how much guys like this would flip if Obama told them they should be grateful that he doesn’t enslave them. Because no matter how many times they hear it, they refuse to accept that black people deserve the same treatment as everyone else.
And of course, while there certainly were many white people who helped free the slaves, it’s obvious that dudes like this were the ones they were being freed from. So sorry, you don’t get to take credit for freeing the slaves, particularly not when you still sound so upset that they were freed. They always act as if black people blame all white people for slavery, but no dudes, it’s not all white people they’re talking about. It’s you, ya damn racists. It’s just you.
