Their analysis fails in the most basic proviso: past performance is no guarantee of future performance.
Of course there’s a big hurdle to overcome, but there’s never been a traitorous Russian F/Tool occupying the White House, either. There’s never been a political party that has completely dumped the people of their country for gross naked partisanship to benefit a small cadre of lying thieving warmongering dirtbag conmen either.
They’re comparing apples to Frisbees. The key is to focus on matters of import, not matters of salaciousness. While I hope Stormy Daniels nails Trump, it ain’t the sexy tapes or pillow talk, it’s the bribery and campaign finance violations that will make Trump froth. And the Kids Are Alright and they are going to vote this NRA/Russian mob OUT.
And then we will impeach not just Trump, but everyone associated with him, including Pence. And Ryan won’t be around either. So there you go SR, chin up!!
We are on a mission and we need to stay focused and up beat. I don’t get why Republicans let nothing stand in their way and we let everything, every damn little piece of crap, stand in ours.
Watch the Parkland kids. We don’t have to buckle under every time someone calls us a name. We don’t have to turn on each other every time something doesn’t go our way. Stand up and keep fighting. We won’t win them all but we are going to beat these fascist Republicans down until they are no longer a threat to our country.
If Trump isn’t capable of producing such a big swing then it means that Americans are dumber than previously thought and deserve the government that they have.
Absolutely. The young people did not come out to vote in 2016. People who were never “political” before went to the Womens’ Marches, the Marches for Science and Climate, and the Anti-Gun March. PORKUS awoke a sleeping giant and that giant is going to fucking crush him
This is a common misunderstanding among lefties, but the frothers are mostly in the suburbs. They mostly make good money. They’re mostly fairly comfortable. They’re chiropractors and contractors. They elect people like Glen Grothman and James Sensenbrenner. They wear tasseled loafers. And they watch Fox News 24/7 and they’re fucking nuts.
The whole rural/industrial white working class Trumper thing is mostly a myth. It’s the same entitled elderly suburban white men (and the women who love them) that it’s always been…
So… if even a 40-year wave election can’t wrench the Republicans out of their gerrymandered fortress and we’re looking at another 2 (probably more) years of single-party rule by a party that doesn’t believe in electoral democracy… Then what?
OT – but I have to share this and I feel funny about doing so.
Someone contacted me by private message in the comment section to solicit my writing for their curated blog site. The approach was to ask me if they could use any of my comments and convert them into articles for blog posting at their discretion. All I had to do was say “sure” and bob’s your uncle I guess.
What the whaaaa? I said NO, no way. First, I just wanna know if anyone else here has been solicited by this person. She (?) joined only a couple of hours ago. I looked into this person online using the Google of course. She has never so much as commented here at TPM and has no likes given either. The way I see it, I don’t know her from Adam.
If this person is legit, then why the fuck can’t she tell me what her own views are, which she says she can’t do because she needs to remain neutral due to her blog site. Needless to say I flagged it for the moderators and said Mr. Marshall should look into it because in essence this person is asking to use curated comments from a platform she doesn’t contribute to, or have permission from as a third party interloper, is using the private commenting system to shield open discussion, and is using this method to what end?
Frankly, I don’t know why but it creeped me out when I considered it could easily be someone from Stormfront, Russia Today or Goofballs for tRump. I looked up the name on Google and the name had a DailyKos link, but when I went there to check it out, the name had no comments, diaries, or anything posted other than the name at the top. Its as if they took her off their system and just left the name there, stripping the page of any content, if anything ever existed there at all in the first place.
There is a website that carries the name she linked to in her profile, but that’s it. The website is called Writerbeat. I’m just a little bothered by all this here today.
Anyhoo…Carry on…
ETA: Also the name of the person is Autumn_Cote.
Sorry Autumn…but you brought this shit on yourself. Time to come out of the shadows…Sunlight is the best disinfectant.
Republicans LOST 12 SEATS in the Senate (not possible this time around as only 8 are up for re-election.)
Republicans LOST over 100 SEATS in the House!
It was the First election in which a Senate leader lost re-election.
It was the first time since 1894 that a party suffered triple-digit losses (Republicans), and the Democrats posted their largest net seat pick-up in history, before or since the election.
THIS is what we need to do and carry that momentum into the 2020 elections where we will acquire Re-Districting abilities to solve the Gerrymandering problem.
All we have going in this election are super motivated kids, pissed off women, enraged Hispanics, horrified Independents, and lifelong Democrats. Wave? What’s bigger than a tsunami?
I love it. It’s like a much larger version of what happened here in this county in the '06 midterms when we threw 49 GOP out of office and replaced them with 49 Democrats. I went to sleep in a GOP county and woke up in a Democratic county and we’re just more blue now.
I get what they’re saying but Trump is a particularly awful POTUS the likes of which I don’t think we’ve seen in modern days. And yes, I definitely agree George W. Bush was also an awful POTUS, but it was still (mostly) “business as usual” in DC under him and he got an artificial boost from 9/11 and the “War on Terror” during those early years of his §residency that didn’t really wear off until after his (re-)election was secured in 2004. It has been particularly encouraging to see so many Democratic victories in blood-red districts and states that should have been a lock for Republicans- and probably would have been a lock for the Republican Party under just about any other Republican POTUS.
Thanks for the support. Totally creeped me out, but then, I’m not feeling so good today. Huge headache and my tummy hurts today…maybe late season flu. I hope not.
The moderator looked into it and said my instinct “was sound” and this person was most likely trying to drive traffic to that site. Sounds reasonable. You just never know these days if something more shady is going on. Pilfering people’s comments from TPM or elsewhere seems kind of desperate to get some weak-ass site their content. Besides, its a kind of theft.
