You also have to wonder what cases predated Mueller that the prior US attorneys were investigating.

The Tuesday report by McClatchy laid out the origins of the probe into possible Russian attempts to infiltrate and channel money to the National Rifle Association. According to McClatchy, the NRA probe predates President Trump’s January 2017 inauguration.

WOW! This a relief. I thought the origins of the probe began with her red hair. That’s what SHS suggested last week. I was worried because my wife just died her hair red, and it now looks amazingly like Butina’s. My wife is much prettier, though.

Nikolaev sits on the board of American Ethane, a Houston ethane company that was showcased by President Trump at an event in China last year, and is an investor in a Silicon Valley start-up.

However, Nikolaev’s son Andrey, who is studying in the United States, volunteered in the 2016 campaign in support of Trump’s candidacy, according a person familiar with his activities.

Nikolaev was spotted at the Trump International Hotel in Washington during Trump’s inauguration in January 2017, according to two people aware of his presence.

One would think that a reputable network cutting a check for 20K to someone involved in appearing or producing a show would not typically trigger any SARs.

It may have started then, but the rot fully took hold when they ran Teddy R. out of town and it become terminal right about the time it was “Mourning in America”…

The money consisted of four $5,000 payments that Butina received from the Outdoor Channel for consulting work on a segment about bear hunting in Russia, according to Driscoll.

Not sure if this relates to anything, but Stan Kroenke is the owner of The Outdoor Channel. (Married to Wal-Mart heiress, Ann Walton.)

I might go further and state that one of the key indicators of a legitimate job for a legitimate firm is that getting paid does not trigger a federal investigation.

But they didn’t cut one check for $20k, they cut four for $5k each. This dropped the transfers below mandatory reporting limits, and may even have been legitimate, but also triggered Suspicious Activity Reporting.

I keep wondering why Butina was living with Erickson. It’s not as though she really liked him, and she would have had more freedom of movement for her various nefarious activities if she had her own place. The Russians must have had some reason for wanting to keep really close tabs on him.

I’ve got to believe his lawyers told him to STFU and with luck he might not get indicted for laundering Russian money.
