This money-laundering is at best tangential to Russian interference in the 2016 election. So Mueller figures he can get Manafort or Gates, or both, to roll over on Trump & Co.
Pete Williams said this morning that these money-laundering charges were filed first because there was a statute of limitations. More charges will follow.

Quintanilla led off the headline summary at 9 ET by calling him “Campaign Chair” Manafort.
If NBC’s doing that, “minor role” is getting no traction.

It was either Melber or another guy who said that these first charges would be used to get Manafort to spill the goods to save himself. 
Indictment asserts Manafort WAS a citizen of the United States.
Mueller seems to suggest he’s already dead and buried.
Ukky was on the other thread asking when the specifics would be “leaked.” Guess ukky doesn’t realize that, in the U. S., once unsealed an indictment is public record.
None of this will go anywhere. Trump will pardon both of them and fire Mueller.
Since these alleged illegalities have been going on for ten years, I guess Manafort would still be getting away with it absent his foray into politics. I wonder if the court will consider him to be a flight risk.
Expect NY state charges on this, as well. Dolt 45 can’t pardon those
